review: CM pack 2

Today on CS-Nation, narby, the creator of de_aztec and many other fine maps, reviews Counter-Map's second map pack. While the pack itself grabs a positive 8 out of 10 score, some maps are obviously better than others. Because of that narby reviewed each and every map! Here's a tidbit:

I was already familiar with Volare after reading various forum posts along the map's development. It was certainly surrounded by a lot of hype that I tried to keep at the back of my mind when reviewing the map, but to my delight it really lived up to all the excitement.



Volare, quite simply, is a beautiful, functional, and technically outstanding map. It was apparent an obscene amount of time and effort that had gone into its layout and visuals (especially the little details all over the map). As a CT you start in the back of a large airborne aircraft and jump out, landing at the CT start point of the map -- a great touch to the design and a break from the norm.

Be sure to check it out if you haven't grabbed this pack yet. Maybe custom maps will start to grab more footing with server admins.

volare, tegeaa, and robbery all look like really good maps. I wish i knew some servers to play them on.

I don't recall writing this. Must have been during that 38 minute gap in my life three nights ago. I just remember the room going dark and a chubby being and a bright light. I could hear ``ain't nothin but a paaartay'' playing in my head.

We have been running those custom maps (as well as a ton of others, on our servers for a while now). We also made them all 32 player by messing with the entities. If anyone is interested in playing them, stop by 8Ball Server 1. Be sure to grab our map pack (Ultimate 8Ball Map Pack) and the 2 CM packs. Ugh, volare's thing of not being able to kill the afk would make me drop the map rating from 10 to 7 because of how horrible that is. I was on a server today that had the ability to pause on. So one guy thought our team was cheating so he left, he came back and was disconnected by VAC, then he came back again and just kept pausing and unpausing it. Standing in doorways like that on inferno is also very annoying but people could just be afk for rounds on end not trying to be a pest but it just happens.



I want to try that as map because I love oilrig to death and maybe I'll like it.

If you stay in the plane in volare it blows up.

Oh BTW..The plane explodes after a minute or so. If CT's are AFK in the plane, they will just explode when the plane explodes. Theres no problem with that @ all.

im so sick of the old ass outplayed cs maps, i think that they should just get rid of all the old maps in the next update, this map pack is pretty good, i think they should put a couple in the next update even though itll be cs:cz. Ihavent played cs in a couple of months becuase of those old maps...

Very nice map pack and very good reviws. However, with de_volare the AFK's on the CT team dies within around thirty seconds. The plane gets hit with a missile and about 10 seconds later anything inside it gets killed when it blows up. Just wanted to point that out.
