From the folks at Counter-Strike Meetup comes a novel idea, an online network for CS players to meet with other CS players in "real-life"™ for casual get-togethers. All you do is go enter your zipcode on their site, and then you can vote with other players in your area on the specific meeting place and time. If this sounds like something that floats your boat, head over there and sign up.

Hmm sounds like a good idea.. kinda...
Someone could also enter their name, meet up with someone, and find out the person they're meeting is a rapist, or serial killer. :-/
I dunno, just doesn't seem safe. Well, if it's a big gathering, maybe, but just meeting one person is kinda scary.Comment

I hate how you guys always bash ideas. This is really a great way for stalkers to meet the person they've been stalking and kill them and you guys just can't look at it as a good idea. I mean what are your problems?
Edit:
Heh, meeting place: trunk of my car
time: wouldn't you like to knowComment

Sonus, its not for one on one meetups. The site requires a minimum of four people signed up for a zip code before it spits out a meeting time. Therefore, I suppose you can view it as increased safety in numbers, or more fodder for the serial killer/rapist. Either way, I can't imagine there are that many serial killers out there stalking CS players, but if it sounds dangerous, don't sign up.Comment

wow theres quite a bit of paranoia on this site towards irl meetups. Not that i want to meet any cs mugs, but im not intimidated by anyone on the internet, much less someone who actually had malicous intentions with this thing.
Or maybe theyre all just jokes that i didnt get because i didnt eat my greens. DohComment

Of course there is paranoia. Would you like to meet up with unknown someone/some people in an unfimilar location[insert question mark here...damn defective keyboard] I mean do you want to meet me and take the chance that I might hit you in the back of the head, push you on the ground, rape you in the ass, and then dump your body in the Louisiana buyou[spelled that wrong][question mark]RockSteady wrote..
Ya, that is probably true. Still, is it likely that anyone will have a long-term friendship with someone they meet through one of these hook-ups[question mark] It's better just to expose your current friends to half-life/cs/other mods.
meeting at a cafe will probably mean that molestations and or murders will not occur.
great idea in general.Comment

tho i regret i am even replying to this....
I dont see how your supposed situation is any more likely when meeting a fellow cs'r than in everyday life. Someone hitting you in the back of the head is possbile every day, but yet that doesnt seem to stop you from going to bestbuy to pick up sixteen candles on dvd now does it?Comment

kaos. i just moved to cincinnati and don't have any friends there. i'm not a loser, i'm sure i'll meet people in time. although, i work over 50 hours a week so i don't have much time.
so if there were a large group of counter strike geeks meeting at the local starbucks, i would probably go and check it out.Comment

rocksteady how the hell is this a great idea the only ppl that would want to take advantage of this thing are those that can't find friends on their own its like some sorta dating service except instead of dating its for loners trying to find friends its completely useless for the average CS player I mean why the hell would you want to gather with others to vote on hot CS issues [/me Sarcastic voice] oh my that sounds like fun.Comment
