i didn't say i couldn't find friends on my own. all of my friends live in other states. you see, one day, you will grow up and get a job. that is if you get off of welfare. and it is a possibility that one day your job will require that you move far away from where you are from. OH NO! all of your friends are far away!

so maybe crap like this would be interesting for people like me.

yea pkorz like wtf is this internet thing what a dumb idea. Only losers with no friends would want to chat with people theyve never even met and make friends online. Wow can u imagine the kinda dorks that would spend time writing comments about a computer game...

Enuf with the sarcasm i think u get the point. Try looking at things from a different perspective once in a while, it can make all the difference. If someone wants to meet fellow cs players, that doesnt make them a bad person in the least. To each his own.

I'm sure if I were you guys you wouldn't want to meet me. I'll extend that courtesy to you as I refrain from participating in this glorified gay matchmaking program!!!

Or it could just be an excuse for me to get out of the house once in a while? I hope it's the latter.

Could be a good idea. But what would you do at these gatherings... talk? About Counter-Strike? Seems like it would be a lot easier just to talk to the person on the mic with a webcam.. though not all people have mics and webcams (suckers), but you get my point.. I hope. Anyways, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, i'm just wondering how it will work, etc.

Hi, I work at Meetup and am a frequent CS player. Perhaps I can help out by answering a few quesions for people.

First off, the molestation, serial killer comments are just silly. These are not one on one gatherings, and are always held in public places. Not likely.

As to what to do at these Meetups, well, that is really up to you. Talk about CS, don't talk about CS, whatever you want to do. Our goal is more to schedule fun events worldwide, not to dictate what happens at these events. This is not a matchmaking service or dating service (already more than enough of those out there on the net). The goal is not a friend finding event, or date finding event (although, both might potentially happen ... not in our control). We just think it is a neat idea. An idea that we hope people will find value in. And, one that is not limited to only CS. We currently have nearly 400 topics, with more being suggested every day by users. As I am a CS nut, I personally suggested Counterstrike as one of our topics. I would love to see CS show up in our top 10 topics (currently, Slashdot, Livejournal, and WebBloggers are 1, 2, and 3).

So, if anyone has any questions, shoot. I will answer as best I can.

As far as I know, everyone who plays CS frequently is an A-hole. Therefore, CS matchmaking is basically matchmaking for people who are too ugly and/or too abrasive for normal matchmaking.

                          No thanks

So Greg if that is your real name... if you are not planning to dictate these CS meetings how do you know they won't turn into some sort of crazed group of
                            A-holes
as mentally disabled put it where they decide they will buy coffee then go on a l0oting spr33? hmm? Yes most CSers may be scrawny little elfmen as whaats his face said in that topic awhile ago, but they could still do a good job at running away with bags of chips from the local seven eleven store. And you Greg would be responsible for these
                            Too Ugly and/or too abrasive
CSers that were forced to leave their "Fortress of Solitude" by the tyrants of cs meetings only to get pumped full of caffiene and end up in a holding cell after the police find them eating their stolen bags of Spicy Nacho flavoured Doritos. Leave them be Greg the world isn't ready...

I find that geeks like me, when massed, increase their volatility exponentially. It can be expressed by the equation
                              [G ^ (G * C * S)] / F = Geek factor
Where G = # of Geeks, C = # of Computers, S = amount of Sugar, in kilograms, each has consumed, and F = # of Females (or men who pass as females)

                              Russell Crowe, I am not.

wait a sec... if this geek factor is true and the number or females is less than or equal to zero then the geek factor will reach infinite...
