    Using the same ammo in the M249 and the M4 isn't a bug, it's a feature (they both chamber 5.56Nato); you can even use M-16 mags in the M249...
    Someone's been keeping up with their Bravo Two Zero.

      Nope, cos in CS the PARA and the M4 use different ammo.The M4 uses the heavier and more powerful SS109 roundwhile the M249 uses the lighter and weaker M193 round.

      Or thats what the CS team supposed.........

      P.S. Both rounds are classified as NATO calibre ammo( or at least for the SS109, the M193 is an American round). And don't argue with me cos I know my guns' ammo.

        Well said, Pansy Ranger. :) Of course, there's also the minor issue that there isn't any option to try to pull your M4A1 ammo out of the clip, and add links to it to try to shoot it from your Para (or vice versa)... but who wants to trifle with details?

        Okay, now trivia it up one more time for the 5.56mm guns... would the SG550 also be using the SS109 round, or what? The SG552? The Aug? Seems like they're not all powered exactly the same, though that could just be a wrong impression...

          Well, I don't know much about euro ammo, but the SAWs we had in the armory were interchangable ammo-wise with our M-16s including being able to use the mags out of the M-16's in a pinch.

            If you guys remember Bravo Two Zero, the author stated that rounds could be taken off the Minimis (the gun the M249 SAW is based off of) and packed into the Armalite clips.

              I could be wrong, it's just something I thought I remembered from a one-hour class on a weapon that I got to shoot all of once. Maybe the version they build for US service has this characteristic, but others don't? Any marines on this board?

              Btw, Pansy Ranger, I was referring to the actual equipment, not the CS version...

                -Dice...ur refferering to the Minimi, a gun tats based on a SAW...well to be honest, a minimi IS a saw :) its just that they give it another name, like US calls an A7 what UK calls a Harrier...and about what parislord said, hes right...u can simply take a m16 mag and put it in a m249, but hey, who wud want to do that, u get a 28/30 rounds instead of 100 / 200 and u get the troubles of jamming if some fukkn morron filled it up all the way to the 30...

                oh and btw...i thought this topic was about CL, not small arms knowledge

                  Fair enough, Haiw...

                  I thought it was intersting, but too easy. The zombie-dudes ought to pack some heat, too. with a little more work it could be an interesting modern-day version of Wolfenstein (kinda).

                  Umm... Isn't the A-7A/E/P Corsair II a Naval attack aircraft built by Vaught as opposed to the AV8A/B/+ Harrier-II VSTOL built for the USMC by McDonnell/Douglas (now Boeing)?

                    u answered the answer urself... A-7 is different from Harrier-II :)

                    but I may be wrong on the airplanes, im not really into the vehicle / plane stuff...

                    it was just to make a little example of how different countries give different names to the same weapon...

                    oh and about the ammunition stuff ; got this from fas.org

                    m855 ball --> against light materiael targets and personnel

                    m193 ball --> range training

                    m856 tracer --> observation of fire, incendiary effects, and signaling

                    m196 tracer --> training

                    and some other crap :) u were rite on the fact that the m193 is shorter. its used for training now cus its 'aged' 2 much and uniformity in ammunition can never be a bad thing...anyhow...in cs we're supposed 2 b shootin m855 & m856 in the SAW :) (4 normal, 1 tracer, so 80/20 or 160/40 (no 200 bullet drums in cs =[ ) )

                      This beats the AR-25, the Ultimate m4, and just about every other m4 ever, it is absolutley the best m4 I've ever seen. I am astonished as to why it got an 8.

                        It is a very good M4 replacement, in fact, one of the best M4 around, but some said Ultimate M4 can beat this easily.BTW, the polycount is very high, about 10,000. And I don't think people would like to use it even if they got good computer.

                          In a technical sense the modeling is rather awesome, but other preference aspects drag it down a bit (like Stryker's superfast animations). Still, it is a great model that unfortunately just isn't practical for most people.

                            This is pretty awesome, but I dont feel like using it in CZ because of the lack of arm consistency =\

                            edit: looked at in in HLMV and there seems to be a lot of clipping on the reload. hand goes through the clip, and the hand clips when you pull the thing behind the carrier handle back.

                              Nice model :) Some animation errors and sharp edges on the arm that puts it down a point.

                              LoL the pic of the day is so funny. Is the "enemy" Michael Jackson chasing small teenies on the dust?

                                Im gonna say an 8 mainly due to the poly count. almost 10000...You can make a good ass looking M4 without that kinda poly count. I really dont like Stykers anims anymore either. I have grown to love the CZ anims on the CS|RU FE M4. Still a nice model but just too big of a poly count.
