    CALi Match Night (independence day!)

    Good job spiffy poo. I think:

    e-- over ~P~ 14-10

    sb over TAF 15-9

    3D over 1st 18-6

    ExS over Rival 16-8

    And there you have it. Everything else I'm too lazy to comment on. =X

      CALi Match Night (independence day!)

      Independence day, and time for the battles to be fought. It's fighting time tonight, and the time is right to see some upsets. We're just a few short weeks away from the big CPL summer CS tournament, and teams are starting to get ferocious. Note: Most matches will be postponed until later in the week.

      game: week 5 | game 2

      map: de_nuke

      Couple matches worth noting:

      gX -vs- pw

      TSO -vs- TAU

      FINAL: TEC -over- Darkside :: (17-7) [ 11-1 . 6-6 ]

      demo: HLTV

      FINAL: zEx -over- The CoolerGuys Renegade :: (15-9) [ 7-5 . 8-4 ]

      -- Predictions: --

      Total Annihilation Factor -over- steelbreeze :: (15-9) -

      TAF hasn't had their act together too much this season, and as a result, only has two wins to show for. Steelbreeze has a lot more bite, from the look at the current leaderboard, but I'm not sure that's going to matter a lot as TAF has gone into over-active mode. They took an OBLITERATING win over Eminence on Monday and are getting my vote of confidence for what many might consider to be an upset.

      3D -over- Firstwave :: (16-8) -

      Firstwave has been an upper-middle contender this season, but 3D is coming off of winning the RGL-e finals last night. Plus, I think some of these guys might know nuke alllllll too well by now (CPL:WC, anyone?). 3D is everyone's favorite in this match, and it's going to take something phenomenal to make the results read without a 3D win.

      Domain of Pain -over- Echo 7 :: (16-8) -

      I was at first impressed with the visibility that Echo 7 showed at the beginning of the season, having been able to see their players around and more active than apparently they must be, because they aren't doing as well as I had suspected they would. DoP has never died down to anything past middle-of-the-road, however, and even that would be enough to take Echo 7 at this point in the season. Domain of Pain is a big boy again, however, and it's going to be Echo 7 all over the bottom of their shoes.

      Pinnacle -over- Eminence :: (13-11) -

      This might be something of an upset, but after seeing what happened to Eminence versus TAF, I'm wondering if their strategies might be a little goofy on de_nuke. Maybe I'm wrong, and I really think that they should win, but Pinnacle has a chance, and I think that if there is any time to start making use of these chances, week 5 is about the latest you can wait to do so.

      issues with authority -over- Reality Check :: (18-6) -

      I've beat on these guys long enough. iwa appears to be back (or somewhat back) in action, and hopefully will provide a bit more competition as they used to. Reality Check is a good new addition to CAL-i, but they aren't experienced enough yet to turn over wins like this. Issues With Authority should win this one tonight, and although RC isn't a horrible team overall, iwa really had better win this one or I'll be disappointed.

      Simply Wicked -over- Clan Killers 3 :: (20-4) -

      CK3 just lost a few people and gained a few new faces, and Midway's men are kicking the crap out of EVERYTHING these past few games. The final score probably won't be this extreme, but some of that sW lineup is pretty viscious, and the outcome should be the same.

      TEAM STOMPING GROUNDS The Second Coming :: (14-10) -

      TSG is coming off of the closest that a game can get without winding up as a tie. They brought iwa into overtime and won 16-14 last week as 2c took a loss to CGR (I called them TSC for too long, and I want to publicly apologize). I really think that TSG has the upper hand here, and for two teams that have been playing at a consistent level for most of the season, I think that 2c shouldn't be too big of a problem for TSG to handle.

      Excess -over- Team Rival :: (13-11) -

      Rival has been showing quite the escalated play level since their recent admission into the CAL-i League. They have really stepped forward and made some important games happen. Excess isn't on top of their game, right now, but they have the experience, and I might almost call this an upset if ExS wins. If ExS were on top of their game, they should easily come out on top, but I'm going to dare to suggest that Rival brings it close but still loses out in the end.

      Gamers X -over- Power :: (13-11) -

      Power took TSO into overtime on Monday. That's the closest that anyone has come to beating TSO in quite some time. gX is getting to look better and better than ever, however, with a huge win over powerhouse team Darkside on Monday (19-5). It's a tough match to call, and both teams are really looking good right now, but I think experience and celebrity status will prevail in this match. Games X takes the trophy.

      Short Yellow Bus -over- Rj45 :: (15-9) -

      SYB has been playing what I would consider middle of the road out west, and getting just under that in results. Rj45 is the resident punching bag, however, and this match shouldn't show anything other than just that.

      WeekEnd Warriors -over- The unknown Factor :: (14-10) -

      WEW's time to strike is now. They brought [rs] to 13-11 last week (and still lost) which shows a bit of strength on their end. Hopefully that strength is growing and mounting now, because TuF could be a hard competitor to face if the time is right for them (or so the season seems to show). The Weekend Warriors could really pull out a piece of momentum tonight, and they kind of need it if they want to get something going. TuF might be the right skill level for them to start their comeback on.

      The Speakeasy Offensive -over- Texas Area Untouchables :: (14-10) -

      The margins by which TSO is winning lately is getting smaller and smaller, but I really think that the best of the west is too big of a match for the untouchables from the south, at least for now. TAU has been putting forward some good games in response to some losses to teams like PLAYBOY and a nudge out by RiotSquad. It's going to be a tought match tonight though as these two put their best forward in an attempt to prove something. I just still don't think that it's time for TSO to lose just yet.

      PLAYBOY -over- Digitally Xtreme :: (18-6) -

      Digitally Xtreme lost to Rj45. PLAYBOY beat TAU. I'm not even going to say more except that my prediction had better be close or something is seriously wrong.

      RiotSquad -over- New Expert Gamers :: (15-9) -

      neg has really entered into a big and violent arena with some impressive play and a good face forward, but [rs] is a monster that no one should want to run into, and it's not going to be something that neg will get past tonight.

            Err ... you know, TSO only got taken to OT last week because they played 14 rounds in a 4v5 ... and still managed to take the match to OT and win?

            I wouldnt really consider that to be TSO getting worse, taking out a very good clan 4v5 is amazing, and shows how good tso really is

                Yeah, nuke isn't an official map and you can't download overhead views or wads from the server. You need the wad to run it. Just get someone to send you the wad over IRC.

                  Since when is nuke not an official map? The only non-official maps in play by the CPL are mill and fire.

                      d/l it, launch half life and in the console type "playdemo demoname" without the quotes. Or something like that.

                        chili dog, you want to get GeekPlay. You then follow the directions that come with it and walla! It's as easy as double clicking on .dem files. You can even play them right out of a .zip.

                        lead_pipe_justice if you have Retail CS, then you might need this. There was another fix for retail users, but I forget where it was found.

                        edit: I think it may have been from nextwish, but their site appears too be down.

                          TAU vs TSO should be a cracker. IMO TAU are a lot better than the results they've been getting this season. Hopefully they can play to their potential and an excellent match should be had by all.
