Retro CS 2.1

[CSN NewsBot]

Version 2.1 of Retro CS has been released. It is one of the new Half-Life mods that attempts to simulate beta versions of Counter-Strike. You can head over to the website and grab the update or the full install version. Here is whats new:

• linux server support added.
  
  
• added option to use right-handed weapons. (thanks to dirtysnipez)
  
  (setinfo "lefthand" "0" to enable)
  
  
• added old usp model.
  
  
• removed map de_train.
  
  
• added map es_frantic.
  
  
• added map de_railroad.
  
  
• added map as_forest.
  
  
• added map cs_ship.
  
  
• new console/splash screens.
  
  
• various bug fixes.

Grrr... They should have kept train in, it's my favorite map. ; (

Also the "weapon models" renders on their site lie, those aren't the actual models.

I haven't tried Retro CS but CS-Classic sucked. I'll download it some other time.

found a major flaw in 2.1 you cannot buy an MP5...and theres this bug if u host a server the lil menu stays in the upper left corner till u press esc and get back in

The bug with hosting a server has happened to me in every game I've ever hosted, so it's not just RetroCS.

By version 1 you mean version 2. I think it's actually beta2... but whatever they want too call it. Thanks for the tip though.

Train is the worst map on earth. I don't have any spot where I feel safe when I move around. It's not like I can just look from side to side and know there's two spots someone could be, instead I have 20 trains with 2 spots on each and people on top of them. I don't know how some people enjoy being in an area where there are about 40 spots someone could be waiting to shoot you. It sorta reminds me of being in chateau's A bsite and knowing someone is in a window except twice as many spots to check and 10x darker.

I just think they create this "classic" or "retro" versions of CS to allow cheaters to use cheats.

If more teamwork means staying in a circle each person facing out, then yes, it's got to be the best teamwork map I've ever seen.
