Yes I agree too. But Militia2 (being an experimental film) has become sort of a little "test movie" in many areas. The biggest testing area has been publicity and promotion ... we've blown it way out of proportion because we don't have anything to lose if it fails ... good practice for a real movie that would cost me lots of money to make... anyways in my personal opinion it IS noticeably better than M1 but yep... don't expect anything spectacular -- especially not just because I have Valve's support.

and it'll be available for download shortly after the theater viewing. Publicity will remain pretty quiet for M2 until its theater release, so you won't be spammed with more news every few weeks.

The first movie was good, for its type. I would hardly call it good for anything else. You just can't make a truely good looking in game movie unless Valve is making you cinematics which would look good. Do you have any idea how crappy its good look on a big screen? Crappy engine + big screen = small babies crying and hippos getting killed by sandels

Militia 1 was good for a movie created using a game but I really don't think that the critics at the Teen Movie Festival will be too impressed. Especially when it's up against, y'know, real films.



By the way Family God, who did the voice acting for Militia 2? If it was the same guys who did the first film well... not to offend, but I hope that they learned better microphone technique and kinda improved their acting. I've done a bit of production work using Cool Edit Pro and you can get much better results than that with pretty standard microphones and a little work.

All the actors are volunteers and I can't imagine they have a lot of experience. The budget is virtually nothing, so there's not a whole lot you can do. The other things you mentioned were problems with CS, and not a whole lot he could do about it. I hear that a lot of it will be changed. Hostage AI is better in 1.4, the timer is gone and all of the HUD stuff is gone, (I believe) I have no idea about the VComm thing above their head, I'm not sure that can be turned off. Maybe if you replace the icon with a transparent thingy? I unno.
