blah blah blah blah, what? you like 1.5? well I think you're gay.
what? you like 1.3? shit what a lamer you are!
Whinning whinning, from both side even rizzuh. I must admit the fact you are trying to intimidate people in your comments is true. I'm not saying you're a bad person but when I'm reading a real review. I'm expecting to see impartial comments. this is just really not proffessionnal (especially for this important position you have) and I rather check out community news on sogamed.com where they keep their comments after the news is posted. Maybe you're just a pawn like someone said and it would be so insane to complain about the mod your friends have created.
You like CS like its now? fine now shut it up and don't fire the damn
conflic between the community. Don't blame ppl that like a different version than you, blame valve.

i would like a mod where like 1 bullet kills and stuff.. But for that you need real teamwork.. something that can only be acheived if you're in the same room as your teammates, and with team sizes more like 5 vs 5.. (instead of the 16vs 16 dust fests we all love so much)
Something like SWAT where you have to get in a building and actually be carefull not to be shot.
Then again, it would probably be fun for like 10 mins..Comment

If you want to "get that old school feeling" why not just play beta 5 or 6 or whatever, theyre still around the place. Get some friends you know that arent idiots together, rent a server and play the old beta stright from the box, as it were.
The new cs isnt actually wholly that different form the older versions. The main thing that is changed is the maps, and some models are upgraded, but the newer ones are always better than the ones they replaced. The jumping system doesnt affect me whatsoever cus im not a bunnyhopping lamer. All you need is to put the old models and maps in a pack, and recompile the dll with the older features THAT PEOPLE LIKED if you want a old skool feelin mod.
What most people fail to see is that the community changing has had as much of an affect on cs as the new versions. CS got older, and the bigger things get the more idiots and cheats a lamers you're going to attract, its just a fact of life. The old betas were better in my opinion (i played from beta 3 onwards) but the people were too. There was no ping division almost, about 1 in 10 maybe people had ISDN or something, but almost everyone was on a 56k. Cheats were almost a myth in the early betas and i dont recall anyone mentioning them till a bit later though im sure there were a few around.
The models are better now and no one can question that, thought the new weapons that came in around Version 1 were just stupid, none of them were any good whatsoever. I still dont know why valve did this, a few more balanced weapons would be a good move in my books. No one who doesnt bunnyhop (lamers) doesnt mind the new jumping restriction that i've talked to anyway, and if thats what it takes to get the immature idiots that do these things off our servers then we should have to make that sacrifice.
There just too many idiots playing cs nowadays thats the main problem with the community. CS felt different in the early days because the community and the people that played it were different. Teamplay actually mattered then and wasnt just and excuse for dying like it is now, and cs wasnt just deathmatch with real guns like it is becoming. People even sometimes used to be nice to one another (OMFG MAD i know) unlike nowadays were everyone accept you is another twat who just shot u cus he sux and hes cheating and is a camping homosexual right? The thing is there so much hate in the community these days, between lpbs and hpbs, against lamers that cheat and bunnyhop (rightly so) and anyone who doesnt conform to the tight set of rules that everyone thinks other players should play by.
CS and the cs community is old now, and like old people resentment has set in, people sling out abuse and ridicule othe poeple now for the tiniest of things. We all nw moan about the new changes and fondly remeber the old days better than they were.
I mean really, what is the difference between the older betas and now?
The maps for me have been whats has changed the most and what has affected the feel of the game the most. People almost fall in love with maps and become attatched to them from spending so much time in them. Maps are what u see the most of, and are something you can change, unlike the way you can change your weapons or team or skin. People get bored of maps too (dust anyone? after playing it for the 100,000 time) but no one gets bored of the Ak-47 or the MP5.
The problem is that all the new maps that are introduced have a different feel to them, they are all dust-a-likes in that they aren't so much about real Counter-Terrorism situatuations but they are about nice places and settings and oportunities for lovely architecture. This is all very well and nice but cs has lost the old cs feel because of this, how many manps about remote little towns do we need with stony textures and fountains?
Docks is sorely missed by many, that was one of those maps with the old cs feeling im talking about. (Personally i hated docks but it represents something that is important) The survivors from these few original maps are assault, seige, militia, estate and a few others.
Personally im sick of the new high r_speed, open, dust and italy-a-like maps which are all about a tiny village in greece which seems to have ultra important wine supplies that the Terrorists need to blow up.
What the new versions of cs need to do is bring back some of the bloody old maps in new technicolor, with new textures and new features. Assault is one of my top 3 favourite maps, but it really could do with a new texture set. But not however, be turned into a warehouse made of weird coloured blocks of stone with funny patterns on and nice rustic coloured clay tiles on the roof and barrels of wine stocking the inside of the building.
The worst thing about valves new involvement with cs is the feeling of powerlessness its given too the community. The friendly names of gooseman and cliffe that made the old cs version have been overtaken by the faceless might of valve. This isnt a bad thing, gooseman and cliffe still have as much to do with cs as anyone im sure but I dont think anyone feels we can change what cs is anymore and what comes in the new versions. And valve can do things no normal mod team could hope to do, looks that the new features that have been implemented, better models, animation, netcode the list goes on. Gooseman always said that cs was a mod he made for himself and he'd put what he liked in it, but the new versions up until about beta 7.1 didnt come with many complaints. Stuff really only got better. What we need is a better way to communicate with valve and the team to show what we want too, what sortof maps people want, what changes people want, and maybe what new guns people want.
Whats wrong with adding or replacing some guns? Why is it that almost 6 versions since version 1 came out, that no changes to the weapons or additions to the list are made?
I realise i've not made much of a difinitive point here but i thought i'd express my dismay at the state of cs and the community right now. Hmm.
What we bloody need is:
1. Some of the old maps back, with nice textures
2. Some new maps, with the old "real situation" feel
3. Replacements for the version 1 guns or changes to them at least
4. Cheat free servers (the second hardest one)
5. A way to communicate to valve what we think should be implemented in the newer versions
6. Some manners (deffinitely the hardest one)
Sorry for the long post, too many things just kept poping into my head.
Time to get flamed by all the l33t d00ds vvh0 0vvn my a$$ i suppose.
Just a few thoughts, looking forward to the feedback :)
Thanks, Mark

He's right you know. There must be some way of getting the overall thoughts of the community over to Valve, in a way which actually results in them doing something.Comment
