And jumping is such a nice tactic when you're being shot at. You will magically avoid bullets.

With the mp5 strat he says start with the chest and move up. You need to start with the head and move down. The mp5's recoil is completely random like people have said except that its little random cloud is above the crosshairs after a few shots(I have no idea how many, but you can test it by shooting a wall).
Also, I think it would be cool if the person that made the strat could put a little tiny movie like the ones on the summerblue report or a downloadable demo/movie. This probably eats too much bandwith but I just thought I'd ask. I mean then me and the other comment whores could have more to disect and bash.Comment

Ah, but I refresh them for comments too.
yikes you guys what do you expect? CSN usually has -maybe- three news posts a day, and if you sit there all day refreshing of course it'll seem like nothing's happening!!! There's quite a bit happening on this site on a day-to-day basis! If you don't like the amount of news that's comming in, spend your time looking for news to submit instead of sitting there hitting refresh.Comment

again, thanks a lot rizzuh for posting my stuff on your site - it gives me bragging rights with my friends. Those are all i have due to my suckyness in the game from trying to use the silencer too much :) Anyways...-dice wrote

Nice guide FiLDo. Stealth is still much too overlooked, and it's good to get the silenced flanking thought out there. Granted, I think the power disadvantage of the silencer, especially on the USP, was overlooked too much. Causing on average 3hp less damage per shot with the silencer on really matters with the USP if you're not scoring headshots. And on the colt, it often defines whether it takes the extra bullet or not to finish your enemy off. In closer combat, or when stealth is lost, this can be crucial (you'll both be hitting each other, so it's a matter of who can do the most damage first). Still, it takes time to get used to when to use the silencer and when not, and this guide is a good starting point.
-Dice, that bind was hillarious. Dying laughing over here. :) Must go modify my scripts now... hehe.
rizzuh, you didn't happen to keep a bit of that source code did you? I'd love to see those little blocks. :) I still have to agree somewhat with the statement that weapons aren't necessarily more accurate with the silencer off, though, but rather that it just responds to firing differently. First bullet or two always seem the same, perhaps different, but equally accurate, patterns afterward?loef wrote...
Yes, and theoretically nothing you do matters if someone else knows how to aim perfectly. But most people don't aim that well, and it's definitely more useful to both a) dodge and b) not prevent your weapon from firing than to silence your weapon to stealthily attack someone who has you in their crosshairs. Sheesh, I'm glad you aren't writing any strategy guides!

I really hate to break this to you, but there's different sound rolloff distances for the different sounds. Have you ever noticed how you can hear the awp all the way across the map, yet the actual sound for it isn't really any louder than that of say, the colt? Different sounds travel different distances, no matter if they're a different .wav file or not.

The point is, with your silencer on, your sound doesn't travel as far as it does when you're unsilenced. Thus the silencer is most effective at a distance, where your gun is completely silent to them, and all they end up hearing are ricochets. Yes, so much for your attempt to cheat in your own little way.

Oh, damn. I was actually considering that for a minute, Hawk

Actually, I made an unsilenced TMP model, and I gave it the sounds of the submachine gun from Half-Life (creative, aren't I?) It seems louder, but it might just be a psychological thing.Comment

It doesn't matter. The sound it muted after a certain distance. Yes, Nighthawk said this already, but I am the king of redundancy.

I deleted it because I wasn't supposed to have it, but I did note that the recoil or accuracy value for silencer was less than the of unsilenced. Meaning, yes it's either less accurate or has a higher recoil. I don't remember which.

Yeah, try it with a friend sometime, host a listenserver with something like AWP_MAP or something similarly gay and really open. Crank your speakers/headphones to make sure you can hear even small sounds.
Have him run away from you, stop, and listen for silenced colt fire, then run further and repeat. (Fire it AWAY from him so he doesn't mistake ricochets for shots.) When he can't hear it anymore, take your silencer off, then shoot, and test how much further away he can get and still hear it.
Doesn't matter if you replace your sounds or not, you just can't hear weapons past a certain distance, which is different for each gun.
If you really want to cheat in this way, though, it seems like I read something about aureal cards once that said you could hear CS sounds like 3x further away with it because of driver issues in A3D mode... not sure if it's true or not, though.Comment

Less accurate would make sense to real life, even if I haven't noticed it. Higher recoil, on the other hand, with more weight on the end of your barrel...? Heh, oh well, I don't suppose any of us claim that CS recoil is real-world based, so who's counting? :)Comment
