personally, I have no problem with the aiming system as long as it is random. If I spray at poor rizzuh with my AK-47 from a mile away, then the bullets would most likely rain down on riz but very few would find the target. If one happens to hit riz in the head, he had it coming because after all, its 100% random.

So basically, I dont think that long-distance headshots are bad as long as u are lucky enough to earn them.

And I find arguing about a crosshair is pointless, because u could just mark the center of your screen with a marker and get over it. Riz, ur right, this is more crossfire than crossfire ever was. People are arguing about even more useless things than religion!

That was the most beautiful sensible comment so far.

Yeah, except that it made no sense whatsoever. You can't "earn" luck outside of an RPG.

I'm no physics professor, but something about all them pretty little bullets flying through the air randomly really makes me think it's not too unlikely that at least one of those bullets might actually hit someone in the face, no matter how off the aim of the weapon. Right guys? Right??

Why does it matter if it's not accomplished? You are taking *nothing* away from the shooter because it would be futile for him to aim for a headshot, that is sometimes only a few pixels, at such a distance.

GonePoastal the idea behind the dynamic cross hair is to indicate that there is still a large base to the firing cone. That is the whole idea. Do not mess with something that makes sense. See what your suggestions have done to cheetarah? The poor guy has lost it...

plz GP think of the Cheetarahs.
I think after playing CS for 3 years, I know when the cloud is larger. I don't need something that makes it more difficult to aim to tell me. We are talking more about old non-expanding crosshairs vs current expanding crosshairs. Cheetarah never had it to begin with lol D:

what I mean by luck is that the chances of a bullet landing on that guy's head is like 1-1000. So basicallly, if u hit someone from a mile away, then ur "lucky" because u have lots of "luck"....I dont think people should whine about that, and just accept the fact that the guy who made that shot was just plain lucky. The same thing could happen in real life, except people have less health and will probably go down after a shot in the foot.

People shouldnt whine about lucky headshots, just as they shouldnt whine about a meteor hitting them in the back of the head. It was random, it was bad luck...shit happens...

Wow, luck happens in real life. No shit, sherlock.

So there isn't much you can do about a meteorite hitting you in the back of the head. Great. Except, in GAMES, you can rightfully bitch the hell out of the game's maker for ever putting a meteorite in the game in the first place. The first version of Aztec is a good example of this sort of thing, and i hope barney burns in hell for it.

Where is it stated that something with controllable, changeable variables (i.e CS) has to exhibit the same bullshit luck that "real life" does?

                    For rizzuh/David Johnston:

When CS2 comes out, do we have to buy THAT as well like the CS retail? (cuz if we have to, I've just wasted 30 US dollars for a game that will soon be outdated) unless of course, those who have CS1 can download one of those "super duper version 2" patch.

                    Somebody tell me about it!!!!

Gone Postal I think that you might just take the time to realise that only you really care about this crosshair thing where as the rest of us realise that we live in a world that isn't perfect and get on with it.

Doc you're a serious tightass. But you have a point. However CS2 is not just around the corner and whatever the case would you rather wait for it to come out or just enjoy what you have? And I don't suppose that a comment that "...I've just wasted 30 US dollars for a game that will soon be outdated..." is a very though out comment if you realise that you're posting in a comment board that began with the celebration of CS year 3.

                      Thankyou for reading my speculations.

How much notice do people take of the crosshair? I've never been distracted by it - I don't think that I focus on it enough.

CS2...will probably come out the same time as TF2...lol...lol...sorry, i'm cracking up here.

to counter the luck you would have to remove headshots completely (short distance headshots are even more annoying just as much luck) and reduce the global weapon damage by maybe a factor of 2 or 3...which would basically bring you back to beta 5. more deathmatch style gameplay, more skill involved.

the problem with cs is, it's designed as a team game. if you take a clan match, a lucky headshot once in a while will probably not change the outcome of the team score at the end of the round. that doesn't help poor little rizzuh though getting frustrated by a long distance headshot. cs simply isn't a 1on1 game (unlike quake or UT) and with that 1on1 situations aren't that important. only solution...stop playing cs on public server.

I guess the luck thing is really how realistically u want ur game. Also, you could just randomly spray bullets right back at the guy who is doing it to u, just like u can awp whore the awp whores...

I don't know about anybody else but i've been playing consistantly since beta 6, that was my favorite time of CS that i remember, but i liked 1.1 too. I still play alot, none of the changes have been big enuf to make me quit, i mean thats how much i love this game (it should be apparent by now i don't have much of a life) Ive tried to quit CS many a times, stepping over to DoD and Quake3 and stuff like that, but i can NEVER leave CS tottally. Like a good pack of smokes, i always return a week or too later, missing my headshot bullshit, and psudeo realistic gameplay. All the little annoyances of CS are what make it CS. it wouldn't be the same if u didn't blind ur self with a flash every now and then or if u got headshot by some bullshit, it just wouldn't be as fun, and while the game continues to evolve, i guess i do too. gg CS thx for 3 years
