    U.K. Army to Use HL

The British Army has been reported to be using a specialized version of Half-life to train their troops. Chris Morris, some computer guy or something, said this about the changes:
It could be dangerous relying too heavily on simulated training "In a standard shoot-em-up game, every time you get shot your health goes down by a few percent," he said. "The more that happens, the less healthy you become. Here, of course, one bullet and you're out of the game."
Therefore, you won't be running around with 10+ bullets in your body and 5 health, how unrealistic.

An excuse to sit around and play CS all day. By a specialized version, do they mean faster walking, jumping and better skins

Why on earth would they use the Half-Life engine? I think I'll take this chance to insult the British again.

Probably because it's he most moddable considering that far more people know how to model, code, and map for it because it's been out for so long.

And it can run on the crappy computers made in the UK.

I think the Half-life engine has proven itself to make great tactical mods such as CS or DOD so I see nothing wrong with it.

Perhaps your SAS is better than our entire armed forces (because clearly the SAS should be compared to the guy in charge of an air craft carrier), but at least our parenthesis actually end.

We may have the best tactical force in the world, but sadly our schooling system isn't quite up to the mark. m8.

Operation Flashpoint seems like it would be a far better choice for a military trainer, considering that's what it originally was.

yeah, so the SAS are the best paratroopp and wilderness survival unit in the world - i saw the special on them on TLC. WOW, at least we arent the little pansy that makes friends with the big tough kid down the street so he wont get beat up by everyoen else. look at post-9/11; we sent our goddamn troops into afghanistan with our country behind us, but little old UK (and the rest of europe) took their sweet ass time dipping their toes in the pool so to speak. My opinion is that the united kingdom doesnt want to get involved in a war they see themselves as "peacekeepers". ok , neville chamberlain, you are the best "peacekeepers" around. show US how its done
