CALi Match Night Wrap-up

Its the week after the week after the CPL, and its just the time to notice the polarity that exists during this time in an eAthlete's life. Either it's the "alright, awesome, my team is gunna reform themselves and we're gunna rule!" or it's "back to CALi until the next CPL, let's just get this sh!t over with." It was first brought up on ShackES, but it's very true, as I think you can see last week and this week. It's also one of my favorite maps to watch demos for. DUST2! wooo!

3D -over- RiotSquad :: (13-11) [ 5-7 . 8-4 ] -

RiotSquad beat DoP on Monday, and has to be really psyched about that big win. They were coming off of a huge win, and with a star studded profile, they put up a good fight against a team that is equally pumped up due to their reformation and new and -- in my opinion, and hopefully yours -- improved team. 3D put their foot down, however, and [rs] is takes the loss.

Eminence -over- Excess :: (16-12) [ 7-5 . 5-7 . 3-0 . 1-0 ] -

Overtime! A match that I would have called to go into overtime (HA!) had I not been three hours away moving myself into a new apartment. The game must've been rough, and I've got a whole fistful of respect for both teams after this past CPL. Eminence and ExS are both teams that have been together for a long time, and teams that spend their time practicing like they are trying to go stir-crazy. It gave up a great match, but Eminence came out on top, despite what I might have thought.

zEx -over Team Rival :: (14-10) [ 5-7 . 8+1-3 ] -

A match that nobody would have doubted or expected to end up differently. zEx showed up and fought hard at the CPL, and they continued their steam-rolling-success tonight over baby Rival.

Darkside -over- TEAM STOMPING GROUNDS :: (17-7) [ 9-3 . 8-4 ] -

I don't know why I'm capitalizing TSG's full name, but it's there! This really should have gone down any differently than it did. TSG wasn't facing up to be as good as they can be, and with the recent loss of their two leader figures who left peacefully to begin something new, they are facing every match as the underdog. Darkside is just too much push for their swing. D:

Firstwave -over- The Speakeasy Offensive :: (16-8) [ 8-4 . 8-4 ] -

TSO lost Cannon and Geffon (kane and moto) to 3D. They're not what they were. Cannon and Geffon were a strong backbone, and while the people remaining ARE CALi material, they are going to have a hard time doing it alone for a while. Better yet, Firstwave is a tought team, especially for a recently crippled TSO.

Echo 7 -over- Short Yellow Bus :: (17-7) [ 9-3 . 8-4 ] -

I don't know enough about SYB, but e7 won this, and I wouldn't have predicted it that way. Echo 7 seems to be a tightly knit group of guys, just as many CALi clans have prooven to need being. SYB seemed to be a better group than this, but teams get better, and teams have their bad days. As it stands though, I'm going to chalk this up as "Echo 7 is better than Spiffman knows."

The Second Coming -over- New Expert Gamers :: (15-9) [ 7-5 . 8-4 ] -

neg is a newer clan than most of the guys here, but they seem to be doing better than most new teams to CALi culture. 2c is continually improving and winning when I think they will lose, however, and that's why I would have initially thought 2c would lose, but then wound up being wrong and getting flamed in the comments. Not this time! I didn't make it home in time to do predictions and 2c won before I could predict otherwise! MUAHAHA! gg guys, flame me next time!

Domain of Pain -over- PLAYBOY :: (24-0) [ 12-0 . 12-0 ] -

Sad to see a group of brothas (and a white guy) all get flushed like this, but there they go. FlooSH!

Texas Area Untouchables -over- Reality Check :: (24-0) [ 12-0 . 12-0 ] -

Wooooo! TAU gets the easy win and 24 rounds to boot! GG RC! Enjoy your hiatus (come back soon and continue improvement... eh?).

actually, i think the world cup is more entertaining but thats just me

Spiffman I really enjoy and appreciate your CAL coverage, don't get me wrong, but for those uninformed people like myself it would be very helpful to post match times instead of just posting that the matches are happening. This would greatly aid watching them on HLTV. Keep up the great work, tho!

would LOVE it if times were posted, but its SO unpredictable, and times are never set. CALd times are set.

SYB just walked over TuF. Forfeited in the end, something like 20-3 before they went though...

Oh, and SYB: 10-2, 10-2. I have HLTV demos, but they're rubbish and miss the first rounds of each half. :/
