cs - year 3

As promised, I've written up something about the third birthday of Counter-Strike. It really goes no where, but it makes me feel like I've accomplished something. Which, of course, I haven't:

As we continue to enjoy CS through its fourth year, I suggest we all stand together to improve this community! And trust me, it's not that hard. Being a better us is all about the simple things. When a teammate loses a round because he can't aim, have a nice chuckle and say nice try (or 'nt') anyway. Maybe give him a hint or two. Pick up a headset and communicate with your teammates. Even if you're the only one, it'll go a long way. Hang out in the same servers and befriend the other regulars. Knowing the other players makes teamplay far easier and much more enjoyable. Say good game (or 'gg') at the end of the map. It's the little things that make you seem like a good guy. Everyone likes good guys -- who knows, maybe someone will try to be a good guy just like you.

I think "defeat over" is fine syntax. Someone like mouth or asspennies (who are one in the same) will post the correct wording soon, I bet.

About the community... I think rizzuh makes a very good point when he says its impotant to try and stick to a server you like and meet the regulars. For example my brother and I and a few friends started what we call a CS family. We don't have enough time or organization to regularly practenice or compete, but we do make time to keep in touch via IM and eMail and play on our favorite server. Its loose knit and we all have a say in who joins. If anyone wants to join we just ask them to play on our fav serv often enough to get to know the fam then if no one has any objections we ask them to put the badge on.



We do have a few requirements. No cheating, no racism, no homophobes, but most of all remember it is a game and you are supposed to be having fun.



We have met other clans on the serve and accepted challenges (we make very few ourselves), and we even got around to making a site. (linked in my sig).



We have gained enough 'spect on the serv that some of us are admins and some people from other clans have quit to join the family.



All in all, it creates a more friendly environment for everyone and fosters a lot of good teamplay... sometimes.

Hey, the article was ok. Learned a few things. Seems like not too much work was put into it, but you mentioned this so that's ok. The little rant about being nicer to fellow players was kinda useless, since the community is great in part due to the bitterness and sarcasm. That's what makes it special. The angst, oh, the angst.



I did like the Beta Screens since I came into CS in 1.1 and I never saw the choppy past models, just the choppy present ones. A small note, I think it would be to the interest of some ppl (namely me) if you added a section to the site covering the Beta history of CS. Kind of a nostalgia thing. Players can post screens and shared bullshit on their early days. I'm a sucker for the oldies. This could mess up future contests, but I never win so screw it.



I guess that's all. One more thing, how come Gooseman never posts on CSN? Or even interviews? I mean, I know he's a bigshot, but your (Rze, I'm talking 2 u) ties run pretty deep and given the number of loyal ass-kissers here, he owes it to us. Well, maybe not "owes". Excuse my manner, I'm in the middle of exams. (:)} <- goatee man
