On second thoughts if you are talking release as in Pre Beta 1 the G3/SG-1 could replaced anything but my guess is the Sig 552 as I seen a few screenies with it in PreBeta 1. You could even be talking as in before Counter-Strike was released in real life



So if it is released as in BETA 1 the answer is:

After WWII Heckler & Koch developed a new rifle for the West German army, based off the Spanish CETME rifle. The Gewehr-3, or G3, replaced the FN FAL in the West German army in 1959, 40 years before the release of Counter-strike in 1999.
