Well, the time has come. Listen up all you Backstreet Boys groupies, Counter-Strike Beta1 is now out!

The mod comes with 4 maps, the maps being: cs_siege, cs_mansion, cs_wpndepot, cs_prison. We'd like to thank Magnus Lind, Patrik Opacic, Leon Nieuwoudt, and N0TH1NG for their incredible work on the maps. You can read about the maps at the newly opened CS Maps page.

been playing the game for 2½ years now, beta 5 something, I think, so it wasn't all THAT buggy when I started. I would like to thank the CS-Team, and also the true Hardcore players who stuck with the game since it started... I don't think beta 5 and up would have come if you guys didn't stay the course and trust the game would be better than it was then...

Wow, 3 years...



I remember my first impression of the betas. Buggy and ugly, but fun! CS has come a long way since then.



Imagine all the hours people have spent playing CS...

Having so much fun, by themselves or with friends. At home and at LANs. In clan matches and on pubs. Many have made new friends through CS.



Imagine all the hours of lack of sleep. On LANs with your friends: "A REAL man doesn't need more than 2 hours of sleep!" Or at home, "Yeah, I should go to bed now, just 20 more minutes..."



Imagine all the hours you've played when you really should have been doing something else. Some has lost their girlfriends because of CS. Or lowered their grades in school.



Imagine all the millions of dollars spent on hardware, just so people could gain a few fps in CS! Many have found their way into an expensive hobby, computers and computer games.



I really don't want to know how many hours of CS and Civilization I/II/III I've played in my life. Too many I guess... But there will be more!
