The LA Times took a gander at the recent cybercafe violence with an article of their own. Here's some sauce from it:

The popularity of Counter-Strike and other interactive computer games is credited with sparking the recent growth of cyber cafes across the country, also called PC rooms or Internet cafes.



But some officials are becoming increasingly concerned that the violence on the screen is spilling into the real world.

Interesting, but nothing new, really.

I think the problem is the asian and mexican gangs in Orange County and not so much CS or cybercafes. It's not like others are saying any different, before people start to say that the LA Times hates children and Counter-Strike.



The last subject, a messaging risk, is complete bs however. They would have needed rcon to get the user's IP and then be able to magically trace that IP, which is not an easy thing to do without knowing the IPs of other cyber cafes. Yeah.

It is really awful how press and lawyers always seek to grossly exaggerate every minute detail to win over more support. Just the facts, ma'am.

The article is funny, but, the reporter obviously was a bit of a cheap bastard. If he wants to go and find out where all this crime is coming from he might want to try talking to someone from the lock up, not some cs addict (but hey who isn't).



Maybe they should mention how the recent lack of bunnyhopping has resulted in may gamers leaving the computer cafes and roaming the street in disillusionment. In the end it all boils down to the focus of the individual. Who was it who said your focus determines your reality?



Bah. I believe the lack of recent counter-craps is the true crime here...

this is so much like american logic, the kids are a bit excited they just got a dog and are telling people in class "right lets stick em on drugs that will keep em quite", what these drugs have the side affect of suicide (am not discrasing nothings memory),



seriouslly if you want to get people to stop fighting then we should bann all sport, i mean what happens at a soccer/football (im english) match, thats right the loosers go and destroy the town, do they blam the game for that no, they call that vandalism, yet if someone gets annoyed at CS and goes and does somet e.g. destroys somet, they say "the game did it, there is nothing wrong with this mentally unstable vandal, no it was the game"



i hope there are people of the media reading this, look at the people playing the game, not the game for the blame,



wise up people are really that stupid arent they that htey have to have a game to influence them into violence, if that is the case then may be we should do somet about these people, but the game is not the problem the idiots are.
