I don't think it even qualifies as drama anymore. "Pro" players have been clan hopping for so long that it's hardly a shock. This is more like par for the course.

In my opinion, it's soap operas like this in the pro CS world that are going to make e-sports difficult for people to have great interest in or give any serious recognition to. I'd say that until the clan scene stabalizes people are going to see pro gaming as nothing more than a loosely organized bunch of kids.
I agree. I don't know how it works outside Europe, but in most team-sports over here the spectators will pick their teams and remain faithful in support, often for their whole life, no matter the team's current form, league position etc.

It is very difficult to have a 'favourite team' in these so-called 'e-sports' (lol) when they are continually disbanding, reforming, changing their names etc. I believe the only way that 'professional' gaming will ever gain real mainstream recognition and funding will be for professionally-managed teams to emerge and successfully build proper 'franchises'.

Looks like there's still a long way to go... :-/

Right comma usage? I doubt it. A period goes better after think, I think.
That would be right if you weren't wrong.

1st, there is no such thing as "pro" gaming (yet), with the possible exception of only 1 guy called Johnathan Wendel..

2nd, like mouth said, clanhoping is nothing new, especially with so-called top clans who usually don't consist of real life friends anyway.. Once they starting losing 1 or 2 matches, or when some other things aren't going so smooth anymore players start leaving, hop hop hop..

              Exactly.

That kind of behavior is decidedly unprofessional. Just because "clanhopping," as you put it, is nothing new, doesn't mean it's a good part of the CS clan scene. To again use my previous example, if a pro baseball player doesn't have things "go so smooth," whether it's with his teammates or because he's playing poorly, he cannot and does not simply switch teams or leave altogether.

A notable exception, of course, was an English soccer player who skipped town and flew to Mexico or something like that. It was a decidedly unprofessional move that was hated by many people and only tolerated because he's such a good player.

My money was on ND before this change. SK.sca certainly has a chance now.
hmm, nevertheless just a week ago or so, ND lost to GameOnline (#gol) in gamers.nu league 35-13.. they had no chance vs Hyb and company =) AND we are yet to see Ewoks with zet0r & sacri comin back from military service!

Sad about NiP, but they've been falling apart ever since the CPL WC. Kind of sad, actually.

Of course it's unprofessional. No one is operating under the assumption that the people involved are anywhere near being "professional". You're preaching to the choir, as it were.

Saying "it's not a big surprise" isn't a confirmation of acceptance; it's a confirmation of boredom, something along the lines of the boy who cried wolf.

"Hey! OMG! A big-name clan broke up and the members are joining other big-name clans!"

                      "*yawn* Again?"

It's hard to really give a shit about a "pro" scene so pathetically unstable that a run-of-the-mill OGL clan with a Geocities webpage has the same life expectancy.

I agree with most people in this thread with the exception of one; jaded. I'm sick of hearing about how you don't like someone else's typing, and if you're joking, you're still being very demeaning to the people that you reference. By the way, if you'd like to start hammering away at people's grammar, feel free to take a shot at mine, I won't be phased a bit, but I'll write you a report back about yours.

Bort has a point, considering SK.sca plays the same game as NiP, Counter-Strike.

Wait that means he has no point at all! Silly me!
Chalk it up to me reading CSN during work, and mis-reading it as I was in a hurry..... Sorry, we can't all be as perfect as you Rizzuh.... now its 1 am (and I got home - FINALLY) my eyes are barely open, and I don't igve a damn about this shit at the moment, so I'm going to bed.

First thing they need to do is quit calling them "clans". That just sounds so stupid. How about "team" NIP or whatever..
