    Article About Cheating

ZDNet has written an article explaining cheating and how it takes profit out of online gaming. It explains what game companies are doing to prevent cheaters and what it the players will have to do. Here's a tidbit:
In multi-player action games such as "Quake III" and "Half-Life," hackers will try to tap into the servers running online games to execute cheats that let them see through walls or automatically aim weapons.
It's a good read so Take a look.

They have no idea how hacks work, but they get the concept right. Well that part about the getting into the server anywhays

Good read nevertheless, nice to now developers are working hard to stop cheating.

great post. I've stayed away from "perpetual universe" games like Diablo, Ultima Online, etc. because I know how much I hate hackers in CS, and I can image how mad I would be if you could not respawn after every round. :-)

Yea, It's a shame, I was reading the 'System' Interview and its just plain stupid what he does, and if I knew were he lived, I would break his computer

i hate cheating as much as any other fellow player, but i can't really blame system for doing what he does.. if i knew how and had the time, making a cheat would be a prtty cool project.. not to be better then others by using it, but just to make it for the fun of it.,

What a shame that most of those anti-cheat systems (no pun intended) are much better then CS. Battlenet bans every single main hack within 2 days except for map hacks.

If you go on to read the driver for the clamp down on cheating you will find that the scary truth behind this is that the S/W houses are looking to charge us for on-line gaming ... Steam ... could this be the end of CS as we know it i.e. free to the public ? As a matter of fact CS is far from free when you consider your bandwidth , Clan server rental , PC upgrade costs ...

Looking forward to the day when you can play a round of CS online and have the same cheat-free atmosphere as you would playing on a LAN.

Really hope Valve stops the new opengl hack.
