    CAL:Draft Wrapup

    Hey, folks! Spiffman here. I'll be doing write-up's for CS-Nation each week for the CALraft league that's just recently started its regular season (if you don't like CAL news, disable e-sports news on your prefs page!). It will, consequently, be mainly news from the U.S. side of things, but I'll toss in some Euro-news when the time strikes. For now, I'll begin with the first draft week wrap-up.

    Here are the scores from Tuesday night's matches:

    map: de_train

    Wrecking Crew -over- Strategic Deception :: 13-11 [ 8-4 . 5-7 ]

    Digital Alliance -over- irongiants :: 14-10 [ 11-1 . 3-9 ]

    SpaceCadets -over- digital disciples :: 21-3 [ 11-1 . 10-2 ]

    Infinite Impact -over- Valor :: 20-4 [ 11-1 . 9-3 ]

    Patriots -over- Thunder :: 16-8 [ 9-3 . 7-5 ]

    Minds over Mice -over- Carbon Based Lifeforms :: 17-7 [ 8-4 . 9-3 ]

    [riot police] -over- Red Legion :: 15-9 [ 6-6 . 9-3 ]

    Heatwave -over- Fraggers :: 14-10 [ 3-9 . 11-1 ]

    Delta Division \\

    To begin, it is interesting to note that every match tonight pitted teams against other teams from their respective divisions. CAL-Draft matches will be taking place every Tuesday from here on out in this 8 week season. The standings that both matches in the Delta Division were quite close with Wrecking Crew, [wc], barely beating a very strong Strategic Deception, s^D, led by Porter and Clark, "Trigga", in a close match-up (13-11). This looks to be somthing of an early-season upset, but only time will tell as this the league progresses with depth. Also, in the same division, Digital Alliance, dA, took down irongiants, 62Fe, by 4 rounds in what could have turned into a huge upset with dA jumping out to a quick and impressive 11-1 lead in the first half. This division could be interesting to watch as many of the teams seem to be somewhat lacking in the star-power that some of the other divisions relish.

    Theta Division \\

    Theta has the look early on of being a two horse race. Both SpaceCadets, SC, and Infinite Impact, i2, won by a large margin in there regular-season openers against divisional foes. SC led by Morgan, "Bullseye", posted tonights biggest score with a 21-3 win over digital disciples, d2. Infinite Impact brought out some of their much hyped starting line-up tonight featuring Miller, "KSharp", and Kim, "Rambo" (absent from tonight's match), and it looks to be living up to what people have been saying with a 20-4 win over team Valor, 4v.

    Gamma Division \\

    The interestingly named teams of the Gamma division showed similar scores in both matches. Patriots took tonight's match and used the oportunity to show off their starting line-up featureing Fontana and Doyle, "exile", against team Thunder, led by GM Joel Mackey. In the other Gamma match, Mind over Mice, MoM (comprised largely of old-school TAU players), came out victorious 17-7 over Carbon Based Lifeforms, cbl, featuring Grempka, "Morph", long time leader of clan DoP.

    Omega Division \\

    Riot Police, [rp], looks like the front runner in this division and showed it well with a strong win over Red Legion, [rl] (15-9). This eludes to the idea that Riot Police's roster of Moyini, "sickness", Cobb, "Lektrik", and Funk should be the team to beat. In the final match of the night, team Heatwave, heat~, rallied to overcome a 3-9 first half with a 11-1 second half to give them the win over Fraggers, frgrs (14-10). Suprisingly enough, Fraggers, loaded with talent including Moore, "Jaden", Moxeley and Stromberg, "DaBears", couldn't hold their lead from CT side against the mainly-west Heatwave including [W.E.W], uss and TSO members.

    Welcome to CS-Nation, spiffman! (Notice the hyphen, I love that sucker -- you should too).

    This is the direction CSN is heading. We've honestly covered maps, articles, and skins to death. eSports coverage is something that is new to CSN and we hope to fill the shoes very well. I'm personally excited to cover this area, which I've always been interested. I thank "the man behind the curtain" and spiffman for helping us out on our first forray into this area.

    Our normal content will continue to flow.

    Anyway, I'm happy that my favorite, MoM, got an early victory. I'll make fun of optical in private :) i2 may not have surprised anyone with their victory, but it just proves that they have a solid starting line-up.

    Good show.

        Spiff got started a little late (only offering recaps), but next time I think that he intends to start coverage before the matches, eventually complete with HLTV IPs and all.

                              MoM being old school TAU players (like 1 or 2)? lol i think that applies to thunder moreso... now if only they'd 1 come back from vacation, 2 fix computer, 3 quit playing morrowind. good job though, alot more than DoG could muster :/
