The article only TOUCHES on what I believe is a bigger issue and that is a lot of people playing CS aren't in touch with reality as a whole -- Let alone, wanting desperately to find a girl to "get with" in real life.



Let me explain.



The age of a CS player ranges anywhere from like 10-45 (extreme circumstances for both; this is averaged with those I play with on different servers, not scientifically proven).



The older players - 30s - 40s - Male AND Female are much nicer and more courteous to each other regardless of gender and respect skill most of all.



The younger players 10-late 20s - Are generally more immature -- And mostly male and think the end-all, be-all of thier existence is their precious stats and how "leet" they can be. And like the article states, whenever a female player (username that is) comes on, it's like "Oh, my God! The world is going to end... Or begin for some if they can get their phone number or e-mail address).



To me, THAT is the real issue here.



That and the fact that CS should have been left strictly a GAME that you could not play money for - huge amounts of money for like NiP - And if you add in all these factors -- plus the excuse that hackers use in that "I can do whatever I want in the virtual world because there is no real consequences for my actions (except being banned if they are found out) -- Sexism, unfortunately, is only a small factor of what's goin on out there.



I suppose the response I am going to get is the classic and over-used, "STFU" or "Ur Dumb"... Which is precisely my point.



No respect in the virtual world regardless of age, race or gender.



BTW... I am one of those older players I spoke of above if you couldn't figure it out by now

I wanted to clarify that when I said "THAT is my point" what I meant was is that the more you have lived life - real life - And experienced things, both good and bad, the more appreciationg you have for certain things and the better developed social skills you develop as well.



Most of the immature players have NEVER had to put food on the table for themselves or anybody else, pay rent, work a 50-60 hour work week and things like that that have real life consequences if you don't do them.



This is carried over into CS -- and virutal gaming/internet as a whole -- And this is where a lot of the rude and unacceptable behavior comes up like the article states.

Wow. Females playing the game have to deal with stupid people. Gee, i'm glad I don't have to deal with stu...



Oh, wait.



So, what was their problem again? Right, some supposed "plight of the female player". Females get kicked and banned for no reason? They get harassed for playing well? Harassed for no apparent reason at all? Yeah, we ALL know that males have never had that happen to them.



Petty armchair psychology of the article notwithstanding, there really isn't much of a difference from what everyone else has to deal with. Different words, same bullshit.
