    Joolz Defects; XQZ2 Rises

The United Admins fellows have added Joolz, a former cheat author, to their HLGuard team. Fight fire with fire? Let's hope it works. A few months ago, another famous cheat author switched to making anti-cheats. A few days later he admitted futility and went back to making cheats.

While the Online Game Cheats (OGC) team preps for OGC Hook 9's release--an attempt to beat Valve's secure server modules--they have recommended for cheaters to use XQZ2, MikeJ tells us. Again, this old-fashioned cheat from ways back now works with CS 1.4. XQZ2 isn't the same monster as OGC is/was, but it still poses a real threat to serious CS gamers. Valve, however, has managed to disable this cheat in the past and has dealt a crushing blow to the OGC team for the time being. Once again, Valve's anti-cheat will be tested in an arena that has even the most cynical CS fans praying for success.

So far I've been fairly happy with Valve. They disabled XQZ2 (now there are work-arounds, however) fairly quickly. Their built-in wallhack was fixed without a client update like many predicts. Killing OGC was a huge success.

Of course we don't live in a cheat-free community, but I don't think anyone really expected that. This a while lot better than nothing (1.3).

I don't suspect people of cheating anymore. They're actually better than me now. :)

Hah. It seems like CAL. "So and so's team is hoping for blah-blah to happen and theyre preparing for so and so."

My 1.4 cents. (more bits plz)

unfortunately unless a fundamental change is made every long term player knows the advantage always lies with the cheatmakers because they are the ones who the anticheats have to wait to move before they themselves can make a move (does that make sense lol)

Anyway ogc9 will dominate again soon and the cheats will be able to do as they have always done....such a pity but its fun to see em suffer for awhile

id be surprised to see valve (a company) bend over to the ogc team (kiddy hackers)

after all their 1st anti cheat had huge succes in whiping out a big part of cheating

once ogc 9 is out expect to see it "beat" valves anti cheat for the 1st days, till valve updates the anti cheat........

I belive System is having "Mind Sex".

I red a note on CDeath's forum (god bless his soul). It was a message from "System" (creator of OGC). There he explained how the VALVe anti-cheat works and how he will beat it. Unfortunetlly he has some new things to fix for OGC9 so he made a loader for XQZ2 instead of ogc8.

With system revealing how he is gonna hack HL it is real easy for valve to patch up the problem before ogc9 is released and hopefully implant a whole new way to detect the cheat(s).

This is where System makes his move. If what he said in the message is bullox valve will be working on a dummy-fix wich will let OGC9 run around free for a week or 2. OR system is not to bright and posted his plans to the enemy.

With that being said I have one last thing to say and that is that I agree with rizzuh. VALVe has impressed me a lot these past few weeks. Fixing most cheats and creating an auto-update system that doesn't need official releases to work. I haven't given up on VALVe just yet, I'm sure they will fix this in the blink of an eye

OGC 9 currently goes undetected by valves anti cheat. But it isn't released yet. System says it is fairly easy to get around, but he also says it wont be that hard for valve to release a patch...i guess we are back to playing cat and mouse like the the early CSG days.

IMO, XQZ2 is a much bigger threat than OGC!.. Allow me to elaborate:

Most cheaters who use OGC are bored out of their minds.. it aims for you, it speeds you up.. heck, it even shoots for you! XQZ2 still requires some skill. For now it's just a wallhack that works with secure servers.

Now the majority of cheaters will try to get their hands on XQZ2.. which is available on the official OGC site for any n00b to download, along with the loader that is undetected by secure servers.

Anyhow.. players that are gay enuff to use OGC usually play on unsecure servers with other cheaters.. so let them headshot each other at 2x speed. What do I care?

OGC 9 will be for those notorious cheaters that like to "Rage" servers. Right now they are held at bay thanks to VALVe's anti-cheat. Hats off to the developers at VALVe.. you people actually can code!

I was once a non-believer.. Thought VALVe didn't care back in the 1.1 days. But then again, it's all about the paper chase. The best business decision to maximize profits.

FYI: OGC Hook 8.2 still works with 1.4 servers that have the /!\ symbol in front.

                    Get the terminology straight:
                      » Crackers make cheating software.

» Cheaters use that software to cheat.

» Hackers break into remote computer networks and systems.
Thats my $0.02, thanks for reading.

if OGC are "kiddy hackers" why can't valve (a real company) actually defeat their cheats? All valve can does is fix their anti-cheat, OGC releases a new verision 1 - 2 weeks later, and then another 2-3 weeks later valve releases their anti-cheat update. Seems to me like if a bunch of kiddy hackers are defeating valve we may as well give up now. Its a never ending and cycle and to me it seems like the kiddy hackers are going to win, and i myself hope they do so valve will finally see that they need a new damn engine already.
valves anticheat just sucks and doesnt detect anything. currently we patch the custom dll loader that loads the downloaded secure module dll. we perform a checksum check. if the module is new we unload ogc. you can still play hl. after you quit hl you will get a small message box generated by the ogc loader telling you why the dll got unloaded and what you can do if you want to override this check (so valve cant just release new dlls with the same detection just to disable ogc). if its a known dll then will do some mem patching stuff on it to disable all cheats. btw before ogc unloads itself it will try to autoupdate itself from the ogc page (it currently supports on the fly update even while hl is running). also the debug version automatically dumps unknow security modules and reconstructs a dll file that is suitiable to be disassembled by ida (but not really loadable). so if everything works fine then we will be able to keep up with those valve bastars even with they release a new secure module every 5 minutes.

there will also be a few new feastures like grenade doging (just moving away from grenade ent), or automatically following players(just moving in the direction of player ent, also teammates only) or in a reverse way so you keep a minimum distance to other players (cool in knife_area maps to piss people off (myg0ts will love it)), automatically grabs weapons on the ground (if they are better than your weapon, it even drops the current weapon if needed). actually its just one new feature as all those use the same code but it is pretty impressive ingame

Valve isn't going to go to a new engine for Counter-strike. It would be both unprofitable and would piss off alot of the current CS players. A new engine would mean that everyone that plays CS right now would have to go out an buy it all over again just to play. Then everyone is going to have to redo all their servers all over again. It's alot more headache than the players, admins and even probably Valve want to deal with. You are right though, it is a never ending cycle. Most things in life are though and there is no way around it. Do you know anyone else that has anything better to do than to spend all their time developing hacks for games? For nothing even?

CS2 is on a "new" engine I believe. And you can bet they are building that one from the ground up with anti cheating in mind. Also, no hacks work for STEAM. Just a thought...

from that post gobd made it looks like ogc is turning into a bot basicly, with a little intervention on the clients part. What the fuck is the point these, these cheaters are pathetic, not only are they crap at aiming but now they their cheat to chose their weapons follow their teamates and run away from grenades.
