Why do you think eveyone plays 1.4, because they like it? Because 1.3 is no longer supported. No spectator, very few servers, can't download it anymore if you don't have the install.exe, etc... The only real reason CPL is using 1.4 is because the spectator in 1.3 is not supported. Shove your red 3 inch dildo up your ass clown pot.Comment

GonePostal your the only one here complaining about 1.4 still. You seem to handle transitions extremely poorly.
If CS didn't change all the time it would of gone the road of Q3 and UT. Who plays those games? They are exactly the same as they where when they hit the shelfs.
CS is a changing game, part of the fun about CS is looking forward to, and adapting to the next version. It's what keeps people coming back for more. Just when you think you can't possibly see anything new, BOOM, update, new stuff, suck it up get use to it, and enjoy it because it's the only game of its kind. If you do not like change, you have no place in the CS community. CS is not the game for you. There are other mods that mimik the gameplay modes, and have a static set of gameplay rules that will not change. Perhaps that would be more to your liking?Comment

No one plays a game that they don't like. If people are legitimately unhappy with CS, they would place something else unless they're going to the CPL or something. There is no incentive to play CS if they don't have fun!
You act like you speak for the community. Give me a break, there is no vast majority or CS wouldn't be popular anymore.

MikeJ and riz the sex machine both have legit points about why would people play the game if they dont like it. However, let us just think for a second...

Now let's pretend that you bought any game, Diablo 2 for example.
Everything is fine and stuff like that for the first year or so with the game company releasing feature enhancing patches which add items and other cool things to the game.
Then, somewhat out of the blue they company decides to make it so you get to bash things with a cream cannon and that the only character class is an alien morphing beast which takes 10 hours to go from one end of town to the other. (ok thats some major exaggeration (sp?))
What valve did with Half-Life:Counterstrike could be equated to that for the many people who bought CS Retail after is came out (Nov 00). I have no problems with it since I am used to the changes made in the game over time (beta1 baby, best 8 meg download on my 28.8 and best gaming experience on my 266) I stopped playing the game excessively in leagues and i am as happy, socially, as ever.
The problem i see is the principle in what valve did. What people spent money on is now a dynamically different game than if you played it straight out of the box.

Anywho gj with your site riz and co. Dont think im a flamer who thinks 1.4 is the devil, Im just giving an analogy that can be pondered upon.

I used to hate 1.4 but it's not so bad. I still play beta 5.2,as I say in almost everyone of my posts, but even without it 1.4 isn't terrible. It's still enjoyable and Valve silenced the cheaters. Valve has supported Half-Life for a long time and when people start fucking it up they fix it. And if the CS creators really fucked up with this release and they got so much hate mail then next version will be better. But 1.4 isn't bad. Adapt or fuck off.Comment

You do have a point. There was no easy solution or answer to jumping.
Hello rizzuh and MikeJ, I made a good analogy.
The fact is that if jumping and the general DM gameplay were to continue, a lot of people would eventually leave CS, just like many will leave because jumping is no longer viable.
Retail users may have gotten screwed, but many should be careful what the wish for. You want CS2 to never change? You want TF2 to never change? You'll be playing the same game, with the same flaws, for quite a while. That is until you get bored by the same-ness of everything.
One reason CS is so popular in the first place is because it has been changing for quite a while now. Every new update brings in a new niche, sometimes at the cost of losing another.Comment

You know why you don't see people that don't like it? They already left this ass kissing place. Go to any CS related forum and you will see plenty of people that don't like the changes. You know why I continue to complain? Because I feel that by voicing my opinion, there might be an act of God that Valve gets a clue. I would stop complaining if CS 1.3 was supported more, and I know a lot of people feel that way. Don't act like you speak for the community either clow hat.Comment

I don't act like I speak for anyone, I only speak for myself.
You, on the other hand, give reasons as to why people are playing a game. Yeah, sure, I play CS 1.4 because the installer for CS 1.3 is hard to find and that HLTV won't work with CS 1.3.
Right.Comment
