Windows 98 SE? Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

In semi-related news, the CPL's Kimberly Vizurraga, VP of sales and marketing, has been interviewed over at AVault. AVault, of course, is owned by the CPL's parent company.

I think its a safe bet CS runs best on win98 as long as it aint crashing...

But you never here about compatibility issues, aiming/mouse issues, etc with win98. Obviously the computer only has to operate for several hours at a time if that.

The prise for 2000 windowsXP client licences is insanely rediculous btw.

Why... Why do they need a GF4 Ti 4600, or a 2.4GHZ processor? This is a game based off the HL Engine from many moons ago. I would have suggested an sweet ass soundcard. Oh well...

fastest (as far as home PC standards) CPU and video card = poor PC?

You cant get much better than that with a single CPU system for gaming.

sw1tch, they also play other games at the CPL. With stats like those it evens the playing field assuring lag spikes caused by hardware is NOT a problem. This is afterall...the "professional" league.

You don't see t-balls in the MLB do you ;p

CrazyNewbieGuy, depends on what you mean. You can get a nice 106 UltraSPARC III Cu 900-MHz processors with 2TB of memory system. Or have a fat cluster based super computer that takes up 2 basketball court sized labs and has 12.3 trillion calculations per second of computing power. You got $110 million dollars?

Why in the world would they need a DVD drive for playing CS...?

It was probably put in for installing purpouses. Some apps come on like 5 CDs, but also come with just 1 DVD. Makes installing and setting up the system MUCH faster and easier. Although most games only come on CD-Roms...who knows. I'm no DVD drive expert, maby they read faster? ;0

Wow, they really went for top-of-the-line didn't they? Everything... except the sound card. :/

Thats the thing, a good sound card is required for CS, whereas a P4 2.4a and GF4 Ti4600 aren't. :/
