    25%
    2002 8%

Very interesting spread, assuming you guys aren't lying. I've heard people saying they've played CS for three years (this was 6 months ago), so who knows?

$10 bucks says all the n00bs selected 1999 to make them look 1337.

I voted 2001. I'm a 1.1 veteran. It was so much more fun saying I was a 1.1 veteran when it was 1.1. I love being a newbie. I sucked alot more than I do now(1-25).

I find it hard to believe that many people have been playing CS that long. Considering most pubs are composed of people who don't know there hostages from the teammate they just blew up. But then again maby CSN has an older community...

i started playing in 2000. I use to play TFC and everytime i refresed the server list i would see all these "countestrike" servers, so i decided to check it out and i've been playing ever since :)

yea lol the second i voted i said to myself...

uhhh why do people lie to a pole. thx bai

sigh, unfortuanately they make me feel completely useless, being in the 'majority' i really rather wish that i started playing CS in 2002, bye.

            edit: niiff tho ;]

edit: in reply to mikej tho, ya i started when my brother was a supernerd and we had 100+ quake1 patches, and we started into the vast.. or .. small world of HL patches as soon as we discovered it.. I started playing this and Navy Seals for Quake2 (which unfortuanately was never completed) in 1999, i had the first public release of each, and enjoyed most of all playing bunker on lan, though when that became boring, post B2.x I started playing the internet.. and thought i was 1337 when i was 101/57 on assault !!! ;]

aaaan huef, your words are sweeet music. BUNKER!! It rocked, I used to play it on LAN's too, that one and assault were my favourites back in beta 3. U may call me a nerd, but I spent 20$+ every month to play on internet cafés before I finally got myself a video card. :p

Was 6.1 in 1999 or 2000? That's when I started playing. I'm not very good at remembering years. I got half-life the first christmas it was out and I think I started playing CS the next year...so I guess that's late 1999, right? I remember my first map was a es map (the subway one) and I said "this game sucks." I didn't even know there were other scenarios LOL.

6.1 was 2000, we linked to the versions page so people could find the date themselves.

The last release of 99 was BETA 5.

I started back in 1.1, about mid 2001 or so.

I was playing TFC with a friend (whist I whined about how much better QTF is), and he told me about COunter-Strike.

Even through the unbalanced weapons, I find I keep coming back to CS.

I started playing Beta 3.0. You can tell that a lot of noobs decided to vote 1999. Go to your average pub server these days and I gurantee that 80% of them suck. It seems like most early beta CS players have gone to other things. I might do the same if CS:CZ doesn't add some new spark.
