    UA Releases CSGuard Version 8

United Admins has released version 8.00 of CSGuard. If you don't know, UA acquired CSGuard from olo after he halted development on it. Here is the press release:
CALIFORNIA, Saturday, April 13, 2002 – United Admins ("UA") announced today, their first official release of CSGuard ("CSG") which has been versioned 8.00. Although, it is their first official release of CSGuard since they acquired the source from OLO, the previous developer and creator, it will most likely be the last under the name CSGuard.

    [...]

This CSG release includes an upgraded wallhack blocking system and many updates to the configs. Recent tests with CS 1.4 has eased the need for CSGuard to implement aimbot and wallhack blocking, as Valve has successfully rendered most of them worthless. This will allow the team to focus more on detecting cheats that Valve fails to block or catch.
You will have to become an UA member in order to download it.

Excellent. Hopefully between 1.4, Steam, and CSG we'll have better control over cheats.

steam has nothing to do with 1.4, they were using cs 1.4 to beta test steam

That sucks... I don't want to become a member to download CSGuard. How ironic would it be to have to pirate anti-cheating software. :/

Except steam will be the only way to play CS 1.5 (yes, free) and inherently provides more remote file control than that of Windows.

i hate steam, all steam does is cause my virus protection to crash, and IE to freeze after using it

As far as I'm aware Steam's still beta. Bit short sighted to say "Streem sux0rz" at the moment, don't you think?
