Sublyme has justed finished his latest article, which details what the hell the CAL draft league is and why the heck we need it! Here's a tidbit:
Despite not involving any physical activity, the CPL/CAL has always considered professional gaming a sport due to the level of competition involved and skill required to play well. The draft league works very similarly to the way the NFL or NBA draft works. A set of teams are established, each with their own coaches and general managers. They then can pick players based on skill witnessed in pre-draft scrims or demos sent to them. Like in any other sport, the "leaders" of the team do not play in games.Check it out!
