Not exactly CS related, but close enough. DaveJ, that guy who made dust, its sequel, and cobble, has changed his one page featurette into a massive hosted site on Planet Half-Life. What is it? The Half-Life Nostalgia Project! It recaps what Half-Life looked like and was before the final release. If you have any media that you think you might be valuable, head on over to their submission page.

You won't find a mention of DaveJ on the site because he is in his "it's cool to be hidden" mode.

this look like some real good thingie (or, for perfectionists: remove the word "thingie" and replace with "site") i`ll be looking forward to see the site make some progress...

I remember buying my copy of Half-Life a couple years back. Hell, I still have the box identical to the one that's signed on the site. It's neat to look at even to this day.

I used to play it for hours on Sunday mornings with my stereo system cranked up when I first got it. I recall my mother yelling at me for having the bass way too loud. She said it "sounded like a war" when I fired off that MP5 at a pack of alien grunts.

And then CS came along! I remember downloading Beta 1 and playing cs_prison. I always fell off the ladders because it was so damn hard to latch onto the things. Waiting, waiting, and waiting...until I respawned and did it again! Nostalgia indeed. Hours and hours and hours of my life spent playing Half-Life. I have no idea how long that'd be, but any guess with "months" in it would be reasonable.

            Half-Life, we salute thee!

I remember when my friend first brought Half-Life over to my house. He had never played it before, and neither had I.

Reluctant to start, we soon couldn't stop playing it. All that night we played and played and played, each cheating each other out of our turns (we had to switch every 10 minutes).

In the morning, I went out and bought my own version at Best Buy. I have no clue where I would be without my friend. :-P Maybe playing PS2 more, which sits under my TV like an antique object.

yes way too many hours were spent playing half life. my little brother got it because our friends down the street had CS so he got it. unlucky for him i discovered HLDM and TFC since our 56k kept fucking up downloading CS. when we got the cable modem and i got CS working i didnt let him on. now he doesnt care anymore. i think i actually played counterlife-as many times through as half life, its quite and experience to play through HL in one sitting...

I never played Counter-Life, do you think it's worth downloading?

Yah, it's where you can play through Half-Life with CS weapons.
