Gabe Newell of Valve has been interviewed over at HomeLAN concerning Steam. Here are two nice questions:
HomeLAN - How does Sierra feel about CS: Condition Zero being distributed via Steam in addition to a standard retail product?Check it out!
Gabe Newell - You would have to ask them. We've been pretty clear with Sierra about our interest in the opportunities for better customer solutions and more efficient distribution via broadband over the last few years. I am sure they are pretty curious to see how customers react, and would prefer that most customers buy it through traditional retail channels since that's where they make their money.
HomeLAN - How will Steam help Valve in combating cheaters online as well as pirated copies of its software?
Gabe Newell - That goes back to the nature of distributed file systems. It is much harder to compromise a system that keeps changing all the time, and where the bits on my system are different than the bits on your system.
