Valve's latest software product, Steam, has been announced at the Game Developers' Conference. GameSpy has a lot of information about Steam and Shacknews has an interview about it. The biggest announcement is that Counter-Strike: Condition Zero will be available on Steam as well as retail outlets. Say that it's on Steam a few days before it hits the store shelves, Steam might get some major usage.

I already pre ordered CS:CZ through amazon (courtesy of CSN) shame. I'm sure i will find another use for steam though, perhaps sweating off harmfull checmicals i come across in my daily routine.
I used to it play the 1.4 beta ofcourse. Seems pretty impressive (for broadband users). -

Fair enough, that happens with me, but it hardly justifies writing off the entire Steam system as "horrid". After all, this is a beta, and any associated problems should really be expected.
steam is horrid, everytime i restart my computer and start up 1.4beta i have to repair the cache
It seems like Valve are actually being quite good to us with Steam. No absurd forced charges, no alienation of 56kers (well, not really)... In fact, Steam could be revolutionary, and if it is, I could forgive Valve for delaying CZ, TF2 and 1.4....
Oh, and my name is shit. I really need to change it. edit - That's a little better, youse never saw the other one!Comment
