    OGL HLTV

In a stunning move for crappy clans that never show up, the OGL has made HLTV servers required for all matches. While this is a step in the right direction, mandating this is quite stupid. Why require?

If the CAL did it, I'd be happy.. But this is the OGL.

You dont need 2 servers to run HLTV. You can run it from the same machine.

Bah, OGL is a bunch of haxorz and n00bish no-shows anyways. My clan has had 2 forfeit wins and one haxed out loss. Of course the first forfeit was a disputed match because we pwned 24-0 and the clan forfeited the rematch that the admin required us to do. And the second match the other team was way disorganized. The last time like I said we was haxed so... die OGL pit barrel.

First off, I feel the news post by Rizzuh abit out of line.

Second, I am a current OGL admin for Several CS ladders including the largest CS Open ladder with over 300 teams competing.

To address the HLTV issue. It was done in the ongoing effort to curb cheating. It requires no additional hardware and makes the ability to catch cheating much easier. The workload on the admins has also been reduced as we only have to view one demo as opposed to 10, 25 minute demos in a 5v5 ladder. On average, I receive 20-40 requests per week to view demos. Times that by 10 and you will start to get the idea.

Now to address the reputation of OGL in general.

I hear so many bad things about OGL. It's sad because the people saying these things have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Leagues like CAL, STA, and others are wonderful and geared toward the more advanced teams that have match experience. This is the reason that they are not known as a "n00b" or "cheater" leagues. Fact is, The OGL CS staff bans people everyday for cheating. 99 percent of these bans are NEVER made public. We have no wish to bash clans that have legit players and one team member ruined it for them. People wonder why we don't support some of the anti-cheat software out there today. We tried PB but soon after they discontinued support for HL. Fact is, there is still nothing out there that is 100 percent effective. How would your clan feel if we required CSG and you got caught by a false-positive and were banned from OGL and labeled a cheater clan.

Is OGL full of "n00bs" as you call it? The majority of our teams are very young. These are the future hard-core gamers 4 to5 years from now. OGL is geared more toward new clans or new players just starting out in league/matches for the first time. Don't you agree that the community needs this type of thing? So that when a team gets seasoned, they can move up to a more strict league like CAL?

I think the bashing of OGL on the main page of CS Nation was uncalled for. You have no idea how hard we work to provide the best service we can to CS teams. We take alot of abuse and its uncalled for. We do this strictly as volunteers and to contribute to the CS community.

this is a good reason and i dont see anything wrong with it. it helps to put yourtself in someone elses position sometimes to understand why somehting is being done. ii did earlier say it was silly but thats before i knew the full extent of it, i take it back

Yes I do believe that this is a step in the right direction, but it is too little, too late for some.

B2K_J_McClane: Please read up on HLTV. It does not require you purchase another server. If the config is correct on the server, you can record the HLTV demo from anywhere.

You can run HLTV from your computer to any server. You dont need to pay any money to your server host.
