Steam is multipurpose.



First, it automatically updates the games you're "subscribed" to. If steam is running and CS gets updated, it automatically grabs the update for you. This is handy, because if a cheat is found, Valve can update their software and the update will be propogated out to all users automatically.



Second, it packages most files into a cache file (sort of like a .pak but unreadable), so they can't be edited.

at first i hated 1.4... but it shows how good you can aim... none of this stafe-spray shit anymore =)... and now i like it... espically spectator mode... as soon as you get used to it its great...
