    did you miss it?

    Be sure to grab CS 1.4 BETA if you haven't got it so far. Note that it's for broadband users only (won't be so for the final release) and is a beta, which means don't expect perfect anything.

      Those on East Coast or UK time have many posts showing up before the CS 1.4 BETA post. Easy to miss.

          Ok, what's the use of steam? Maybe its just that the servers are still crappy, but I havent been able to play yet after trying for awhile. It really amazes me to see how useless it is. Prove me wrong and you'll get a cookie....or two

            You have to find a server that is a) empty and b) fast. I'm running SimpleServ and my roommate is running BeastServ and we're fast, but we're usually packed 20/20. The first time connecting to the server is the hardest. You have to download A LOT, and it takes a while even though I'm on an OC3.Try looking for a server that isn't full and that does not have the "!" mark. Does anyone know what that sign means?

                I know what the warning /!\ symbol means in front of the servers! At least I think I do. If you take a peek at the Filters menu (in-game menus, not the Tracker) you'll see that there is now an option for "servers that are running anti-cheat software" if you check that, the >!< servers go away, so, my deduction is that this means that those servers are "dangerous" er, um... open to the dangers of cheaters. This is just my best guess.

                Anyone else getting damaged cache's more often when using the Tracker to join games?

                      Nothing ground breaking I played it for about 2 hours really it's minor balnace tweaks nothing more. So you should play it a bit so if you see something that is odd or you don't like in your opnion you can say it while it might change. and if you have broadband it a quick DL and worth it I think.

                          Correct, the yellow caution sign shows non-secure servers which do not have the semi-working anti-cheat enabled.

                          Since it's still a beta, it has many bugs, including lots of crashes. Every time a steam app crashes, it's cache has to be repaired, which takes several minutes. You do not have to manually delete your cache, as it can be repaired automatically when you run that app again.

                          I haven't found more damaged cache's if I use the Tracker browser, nor more crashes.

                          Every part of the beta is still being worked on, so you'll see most of the bugs (hopefully all) dissappear in the coming weeks. Compaints like 'it sux' or 'its gay' only hinder the beta. If there is something wrong, pls explain, and suggest better ideas if possible.

                          As to the release date, cs1.4 will be ready when it's ready. There is no finished copy that they're hiding, what you see in the beta is the current working copy.

                          It will be some weeks, if not months untill a final copy is ready. Until then, either enjoy the beta, or continue playing 1.3.

                              So wait - Beta 1.4 comes AFTER Beta 2->Version 1.3 ?!?

                              That makes no sense at all...

                              Or maybe its a beta of a final that's not a beta anymore - Whatever....
