    CS 1.4/Steam update

Here's what's new in the 3/4 release. Thanks for the news to those who submitted it:
      general

    • game servers are running in secure mode by default now.

    • scoreboard from spectator mode now has a close box.

    • spectator settings are now saved from round to round.

    • switch order in spectator mode is now chasecam --> first person --> free look.

    • all three secure master servers are now online.

      counter-strike

    • hostage navigation improvement.

    • training mission works in steam version of counter-strike.

    • show bomb icon if tracking bomb carrier in first person spec mode

    • show bomb defusing/arming progress bar in first person spec mode

    • corpses stay even if they leave player's pvs in counter-strike.

    • fixed deaths from falling and other generic damage types sometimes showing up as headshot kills.

    • fixed damage sounds when a player wearing kevlar is hit in a location not covered by kevlar.

      tracker

    • fixed bug if you had a space in your steam install directory (i.e. e:\steam testing) when you try to join a game from the tracker server browser.

Steam and CS 1.4 are separate. It's simply used for testing and, in the future, content delivery.

You don't. Steam automagically gets updates before you join a game.

Just got done playing some CS 1.4. The knife animation is all fux0r3d. The new jumping thing doesn't seem to have that much effect on gameplay as of yet...it just takes a lil while to get use to. havana is the best new map, i don't like the other one.

overall gameplay is pretty much the same but it is definately a great improvement and i'm sure everyone will love it, even those who say you will hate it :)

                          BETA-TESTERS.

Please anyone can tell to valve to create a cl_var to make optimal the automatic pick-up weapon-change, in CS.

It's a very annoying thing and a lot of players are bagging for this :)

Thanks to CS-Nation I signed up as a beta tester and today got an email with instructions. Only problem is that my ISP gives me a 3 GB/month upload & download combined cap so I have to watch my usage. Can someone tell me the total size of the folder containing CS1.4, not just the 1.4 cstrike dir.

Also, to the people who had already downloaded the majority of the older 1.4 beta, was there a lot of data which needed to be downloaded in order to play the new beta?
