    USA Today CPL Article

I noticed over at UKTerrorist that USA Today ran a nifty article a couple weeks ago called "Hail to the Cyberathlete." In it is some neat coverage of the CPL's past tournaments and winners. Here's a cut:
Kyle Miller, who with four friends, won $35,000 and new computers at the Counter-Strike Half-Life tournament, acknowledges that Walsh's concerns have some merit.

Miller, 17 and a senior at Houston High School in Germantown, Tenn., said he has a well-rounded life, but he also said traveling to matches and spending hours practicing have hurt his grades.
Indeed, it is a lesson for all of us in school, but I'd be much happier doing my Calculus II homework if I had $35K in the bank.

It's only for the happy few (very few).. My clan competed once in CPL Holland, got our asses kicked in the first round.. It only costs money if you don't get to the finals.. And if you do, you always have to share with your teammates, unless offcourse you play solo competitions like Q3 etc.. But it is fun anyway to compete at that level.. Just fun, nothing more.. :)
