Another beta tester has sent us the second part of Leon Hartwig's infamous post. It's quite interesting:

As far as what we're working on...Well, most of the planned changes and fixes on the 'News' page have been completed and will be in a Steam update soon. As some of you noticed, we're still testing Ido's new hostage map ourselves, cs_havana, which I really like. Personally, I'm spending most of my CS time rewriting the hostage navigation.

Our emphasis. Also, in case you're out of the loop, Steam is not the anti-cheat. While it does have some properties that make cheating harder, it won't really matter since, for now, Steam won't be part of the normal upgrade we all download.

I think that better hostage navigation will improve CS more than anything else ... well other than a centralized server that keeps track of all the cheaters that were banned and prevents them from joining any other server.

So wait, I'm "out of the loop" or whatever. Steam is a way to stream (for lack of a better word) files (being games, patches, or what?) from half-life to your hard drive. Yet I seem to understand that it is comparable to a marketing type aspect.



I just don't understand... Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm going to go look through previous posts. I'll see what I can find.

STEAM is not he anti-cheat application anyway. The anti-cheat is part of the next HL update.
