Linksys fix?

Someone sent this in. Being an un-bias CS news resource, CS-Nation has decided to post it after long thought.

If you have a linksys router for wireless network, it makes your cs lag. During that time, it will say on the top right hand corner "CL_FlushEntityPacket". It lags for about 3 seconds, but u seem to still move after. To get rid of this, go to the properties menu, and within the "target" line, type after what you have already in in the target line, "-game cstrike +clientport 27007". Use a space after whatever you have typed in already then type it. Like, C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game cstrike +clientport 27007. This will eliminate all the lag..

i dont get any lag whatsoever with my linksys router... Maybe you all need to upgrade your firmware? Or something...

Holy shit; finally someone [hopefully] answered my prayers.



I had a LinkSys BEFSR41 running w/ no problems for a little over a year. It died, I replaced with a new BEFSR41, updated the firmware and from day 1 I had this problem. CS might run for as many as 3 days w/o a hitch and then for 1 day straight I would freeze for 2-4 seconds and recover (almost certainly dead). NO ONE ELSE ON THE SERVER HAD THE PROBLEM and my ping has never gone over 50ms so I attributed it to signal attenuation from RoadRunner. 3 techs came out and the final verdict was my signal was fine.



To make a long story longer, I will try this out for the next few weeks to see if the problem comes back.



Can someone explain to me why (in theory) this should work and how they found out?

Maybe someone can solove the CS freezing problem when you run Win2k?



It just freezes when you try to play and you have 2 reboot.

Well, I thought the freezing thingy only happened when you had Realbot installed, but I never found out if did so w/out RB (had no internet on that comp). Are you sure you don´t have RB installed?

BTW, I played quite good CS today, some ppl said the AK sucked, so just to prove they´re wrong, I went off and killed the whole CT team (with the Kalasnjikov of course) on militia . This was a bit off-topic as well, don´t you think?

Exactly which Properties menu is he referring to? In the Linksys router configuration? An option in the game? A Windows OS setting?

Even though I didn't install anything sufficient (apart from the Hl/CS basic settings), I get the Cl_EntityFluchPacket error message, just as he described, do you guys think it's a good a idea to do as he says anyway?
