    WinXP OGL Freeze

Someone has found a "fix" for a problem that puffycloud and Rottencrotch have been suffering from for a while:
When using Windows XP on Open GL, it restarts on you when you go to a game 3 times. To avoid this problem, always go back to the main menu every 2 times you switch games/go back into one. It is annoying, yes, but it helps you avoid crashes. ENJOY!
    Thanks for that bit, "ENJOY!".

You can also goto [Processes] Under the "Task Manager" and close the HL.exe if it didn't close. You have to do this every time you close half-life. Sometimes Hl.exe is here, sometimes its not.

That's odd, I've never had that problem and I'm running XP with OpenGL. Of course, since Microshaft screwed with their (And nVidia's) latest drivers so they don't support OpenGL, I'm using really old drivers...but hell they work just fine so why complain.

HAHA By the way when I first read about WinXP OGL, I misread it and thought it was about a conflict between WinXP and OGC...I was gonna start laughing my butt off about those 1337-haxors and their OGC crap.

Anyways... I have a diff problem... My game sometimes locks up when there's a lot of smoke grens on the screen...

I've tested my fix for about 5 hours now... and I have to report success! As of the changes I made... CS no longer locks up with smoke grens on the screen yet...

                  Here's what I have

                  Pentium 4 1.6 ghz

                  256 megs of SDRAM @ 133 Mhz

                  Win XP Home

                  Geforce 2 MX400 64 Megs (Using Detonator 23.11 drivers)

                  Here's what I did...

Downloaded GeForce Tweak Utility from www.guru3d.com

                  Installed it

                  Under System

                  -------------

Set AGP transfer rate to 4x

Under Via chipsets changed AGP transfer rate to 4x

                  Enabled Compatability mode for Intel

                  Under OpenGL

                  -------------

                  -Texture Filtering-

                  (Following are checked)

                  Enable anisotropic filtering

                  Level of Anisotrophy (16-tap)

                  Force multitexturing

                  S3TC/DXTn quality bug fix

                  Texture Quality (2)

                  -Vertical Sync-

Checked Render no more frames ahead than: (2)

                  -Buffers-

                  (following are checked)

                  Buffer region extention

                  Dual Planes use video memory

                  Enable Triple Buffering

                  Buffer-flipping mode (auto-select)

                  -Emulation-

                  Checked - Emulate GeForce 3

                  -Some other Settings-

Checked Def. OpenGL render Quality (desktop depth)

                  Texture Precache

                  -------------------------------------------------------------

The settings take place once checked...

                  Re-boot and try playing...

Also note... I believe it has something to do with the FSAA being on... Full Screen Anti Aliasing will smooth edges by using intermediate colours on the diagonal edges of images... so make sure that setting is off... you can't really tell the change...
