    Over the hill

UKTerrorist has posted an article looking at a day in the life of 42-year old Counter-Striker, Herman Chambers. The first piece tells how Herman struggles to juggle CS with work and family life. Here's a bit:
During the moments when I'm in Free Look Mode, I contemplate my existence and my family. My two kids barely ever see me. I come home from work and run for the computer. My kids are having crackers and apple juice while they watch cartoons as I come through the door. I don't think they've ever seen anything move so fast, just the black blur of a business suit that heads for the bedroom. It bothers me that when little Angela, who is 7 years old, is asked at school what her father does for a living, she replies, "he plays on the computer".
Read it, perhaps it's good and jolly! diomedes.

It's not an addiction, which is what they blatantly label it as.
This is who I appear to be, this is the charade I present to others so they see me as normal.
The time at the table seems to last forever, but ticks by at high speed. I just don't know what I would do without Counter-Strike. Sometimes, I won't play for a few days and be all right. But other times, I feel like I might die if I don't play. Is it a medical condition? A state of mental illness? I can't describe it, I just... can't.
I can describe it...and I'll be blatant and label it...it is an addiction. Correct me if I'm wrong but these statements are some of the hallmarks of addiction, as well as other bits like the exhorbitant amount of money and time this guys has spent on his "habit." (4 months pay to purchase a computer to play on as well as a $120 chair for it, while his wife gets cheap imitation birkenstocks and clothes from K-Mart. I really hope this finely-written article is meant to be taken sarcastically, 'cause otherwise I feel deeply sorry for this guy and his family. Sounds like this game is playing him.

Hahahaa...i liked it....you guys realise that its FICTION right?
Fiction? I'll be 43 in March. It's Midnight, and I just came off a server cause I was lagging too much and embarassing myself. My now 23 year old soon to be shipping off to Army Ranger training step-son turned me onto this game. Now my computer's faster, my video-card is better, and I'm here in my office whilst my wife is snoozing in the bedroom on a Saturday night.

        Fiction? As If.

            That was an amusing read.
I played the game I love, I ate dinner, and played for about another 3 hours straight. Then I pleased my wife, all she wants is me.
Though I was suprised to see how many people thought it was, to quote Lazor:
            SUCH a good written article
While thorough and consistent, the craftmanship of the piece is -very- basic. It makes me wonder if you people have ever read a good written book.

Of course it, is...first in a series perhaps :). IMO it's a great read, quite original and a nice change from the usual article we see people write.

The guy that wrote it is 14, I'd be pretty happy if I was to look back and see that I could write so well when I was 14. Glad you liked it though :)

Obviously we told you in the news post that the guy was 40+, but originally I didn't know. So when I read through it the first time and heard the shouts of 'dinner', I thought that was meant to be his mother hehe.

The fact that you ppl even consider this news shows what a sorry world we like in, and how desperate we all are for 1.4

I think articles in the community are news, as do CSN obviously.

That's probably why you don't run/work at a top news site though, it's a fictional piece of work, and if you read it you'll find some irony/sarcasm in it.

obviously you haven't either, otherwise you'd know that the word is well. Please, learn to use and love adverbs D:
