GameSpy Daily has interviewed Erik Johnson about Valve's new anti-cheat software. It's mostly fluff, in my opinion.



ShackNews has an interview with the same guy, but it's much more to the point and actually touches on more interesting topics.

What a bunch of worthless questions.. "Why do you think people cheat?" LOL Who gives a shit what the thinks about that? Ask him wether he believes his solution is going to work 100% . Ask him wether its just going to be another worthless detection method or is his software actually going to stop people from being able to hack the damn game at all? BAh...

The "Arms Race" he talkes about of course refers to Steam, the way we are playing the beta now, cs/halflife/etc is downloaded dynamicly to a folder on our hard drive, and steam remains active in the background. This makes it incredible easy for valve to push an update to any of the games they support. Theoreticly within minutes of a cheat coming out, valve can make it upsolete with an update on steam.

I find it interesting that they are even willing TO ban people...



go valve! every little bit helps in my opinion. even if its not a total solution, its better than nothing, and pretty decent when added to all the other deterants.
