IRC Connections

I guess I should introduce some of you guys to Internet Relay Chat. First of all, download mIRC, a great and simple chat program. Install and run it. Fill in your name and somesuch, then close all open windows and select the Status window. Type in the following:

/connect irc.gamesnet.net

After a few seconds and a port scan you'll be connected to GamesNet's IRC network. From there, there are a few cool channels to check out. Just type in the command I have listed and you'll be set.

• /join #counterstrike - the official counter-strike chat room. i run this room and have plenty of minions to back me up. we usually get plenty of people, so you should have plenty of chatting to do.
  
  
  
  
• /join #conditionzero - this is the counter-strike: condition zero chat room on gamesnet. it's pretty small, but hopefully you can join in and ask me or someone else all the questions you need to know about this upcoming title. be sure to check out our condition zero information section first.
  
  
  
  
• /join #php - this isn't related to cs, but many of you guys are becoming php programmers. if you need some help or just a larf, come in and chat with us. i prefer this over the barrage of php questions i've been getting in my e-mail.

I'm horribly disapointed in you... IRC is easily like the most useful, best resource for clans, general help, and having a 'group of friends' per say... It serves more purposes than your mothers mouth, which, believe me is a lot..

Just one thing I had to clarify.../connect server.com doesn't work on mIRC without special aliases (some distros have it, some don't) so use /server server.com instead.



...but where to get a multi server client witch hasn't "Bers" on it's name?

neuf, Arc was stating that mIRC "sucks". Not IRC itself. It is probably important to note that mIRC is only one of MANY IRC client programs you can use to connect to IRC. So, while rizzuh feels the need to pimp mIRC, don't be afraid to try some of the many other clients as well.
