Bullshit shots are fun =)...but I think lagging and still owning w/o cheating is showing the greatest skill, cause you gotta have MUCH faster reflexes if you want to beat some guy on LAN or a fast connection... I can go to an average server and get 3:1 ratio w/me having 250 ping and everyone else having 50 ping cause I know how to exploit my lagginess... and when I play on LAN I completely own cause of my faster reflexes. It's kind of like how people train at high altitudes for running... you get used to it, and get good at it, so when you go back to "normal" conditions you will do better than anyone else.Comment

Hmm. I don't claim to understand everything about the Half-life net code, but I take issue with people saying ping doesn't matter. I play CS from 2 distinctly different sites. When I play from home, I have around 300ms link on average. As I am a decent player I still will usually be in the top 2-3 players on a given server. I will have records like 15-6 or so on given rounds. When I go to work I play from a T1 line with approximately 50ms ping. On the same servers against the same competetion level I am usually #1 on the server with round records like 20-2. My home computer is better in every way other than link...more memory, faster processor, better video card, better mouse so on and so forth. As someone who plays on both types of links quite often let me tell you high ping connections feel slow to me. I end up emptying clips when I have high ping because I don't get the instant drop of my enemy like I do with low ping, and I want to make sure they are dead. Anyways I ramble... and low ping is still much better than high!Comment
