Why don't we all shut up and enjoy our beta until we get our paws on HL2 and CS:S?

Because they wont release anything on time..

I think they should release it now, HL2 is probably already finished their just doing source.. I say release it now then release the source maps on the internet (the ones that aren't finished)

But people who bought a ati card and got hl2 with it get cs s free, is what i heard in an interview with gabe, and why should we pay for a ported version of cs to the source engine when the game has been free since it started?, if cs were free do you think it would of got so popular? let you figure it out:) will have to pay for cs 2 but cs source seems a shambulls to me! im just listen to what gabe says in interviews:)
CS: Source will come with HL2 as the multiplayer component. CS was never free unless you had already paid for Half-Life. If you wanted CS standalone, you had to pay the same amount of money (that never made sense to me) but anyway, there is nothing stopping you from playing CS 1.6. I mean, think about how far CS has come since the beta days. Are there any other multiplayer games that have improved this much without any more money being necessary? I'd say we all got our money's worth a LONG time ago. It only seems logical that we'd have to pay for hl2 and cs on a BRAND NEW engine...

As for the terrorists winning after time runs out if all the hosties are dead, i also think that this will encourage people to kill the hosties and then camp somewhere. I mean, in real life the hosties are the terrorist's only bargaining chips, so it would be stupid to just shoot them. I don't agree with this change and think that if the hosties are all dead at the end of the round time, the CT's should win.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense that people would actually pay it. In fact, it sounds alot like something else.. what was it? Oh yea.. "I'm going to buy all the different versions of HL2 because I'm a fucking idiot heehee!"

But see I think this new Hossie Rule isnt really a gameplay issue it is more of a server issue. Isnt there a system in place to allow auto kick of a person for killing hossies? Not only that if it is a good server im sure that if a Team was violating the hossie kill rule alot they could threaten to banned or be at least kicked by the admin for it.And in My Opinion a group of Ts have to be pretty creative to kill hossies every round and then camp and not get Found every round :P

Oh and to JoJo fy stands for Fantasy so a game intended to be "Semi-realistic" wont play out something that is not "realistic". Plus If ya like Fy style Im sure a server mod will come out to mod the engine to make it more FY friendly :)

for u people who are still bitchin about no map, just be happy u even have this beta, and start treating it like a beta
stop saying "for u pple" ive never bitched at more maps....correct me if im wrong, but i think pple are talking about the official maplist thats has been found in the game OR the fact that Valve has released an update on something thats not even out (hostage update) and no1 is bitching that there is only de_dust in the beta

The T side don't win as soon as the hostages die (see it says once the round timer ends). It means that if you have a lamer on the T-side who keeps killing the hostages, either team can still win.
yup, and it obviously isn't much of a problem since it hasn't even been really talked about until now since it was mentioned in the changelog.

Anyways the T who kills all the hosties is out all of his money next round, the T team has to last the entire round time and in most pubs if you even stop and stay behind a box for more then 30 seconds theres a vote kick or admin message flashing to tell you to stop. Not to mention the countless servers who have the auto-kick after killing so many hosties on.

Terrorists now win if all hostages are dead and round timer expires.
I'd just like to point out that (and don't take my word for it, by all means try it for yourself, that this is the way things already are in CS 1.6/CZ. Anyone wondering what sort of impact this will have on the game should realize that the most probably answer is that there will be no change.

Uh, in CS maps, if the CTs don't rescue the hostages - it doesn't matter if they're alive OR dead - then the round goes to the Ts. It's ALWAYS been this way. What's so new about it?

It's the opposite of defuse maps, where the CTs win at the end of the round of the bomb isn't planted.

Maybe a hit detection update will be included in the next patch, b/c the delay is still huge.

I don't notice a delay, just a lack of hit detection. It'd be cool to have the damage-twitchs in Source. I don't think there's a technical name for it.. so I just made one up. I'm talking about when someone gets shot, they sort of twitch. Those twitches might help us to see if we're hitting someone or not.

Yeah, the flinches from the beta days of CS would be sort of neat to see return, if possible.

The flinches have always been in CS as far as I know, even in 1.6.

Yeah, I would like to see that addition too. It's just odd watching other players barely react to being shot.

And about the delay: I don't actually mean a delay in the gun firing, but a delay in the bullet actually being registered by the server. For instance, have a friend with helmet-armor run from one side of you to the other in CS:S while you shoot at his/her head. You'll notice that the sparks dont show up. Then, do the same thing over again, but this time, take a lead of a foot or so. THEN the sparks show up...

This is b/c the time difference it took for your bullet to be registered from your computer and on to the server is equivalent to that of a few foot leed. I'm not exactly sure how long the registering delay is, but it's close to a second or so. As you can see, though, even tenths of a second in delay can make a huge difference.
