Heh, I tested one with my friend. I must say, you console people are an odd breed, why buy a 500 dollar console or whatever when you can have a computer? My 5 year old computer STILL ass-kicks any console out there. Well, pwnz anyway

uhh...before u guys starting talking about exactly how which one is better, I just learnt yesterday that Microsoft X Box can play dreamcast & playstation games. A good friend of mine told me this because one of my friends friends bought x-box and x-box seems to be able to read certain game discs...so anywayz check it out for yourself if u arent sure..But I for one, wouldn't mind having x-box but I also wouldn't mind having ps2 & GC at the same time.

That's a pretty silly question. I'll tell you why one would buy a 300 dollar console.



1. Its usually not a question of WHICH to buy. Most console owners ALSO have a computer.



2. Consoles = virtually zero bugs, crashes, other computer related software/hardware conflicts.



3. Consoles are easier to make games for, thus most good games for PC wind up being ported to console but not necessarily the other way around.



4. As a gaming system, it costs less than a PC.



5. No upgrading necessary to play games that are released 2 years later.



6. Most people dont hook up their PC to their TV allowing them to comfortably play games in their living room.



7. No installing / configuring of games needed. Quick and easy to put in a game and play.



Im sure there are many more reasons that Im not taking the time to think of, and I know there are lots of advantages to getting a computer but each person has to weigh whats most important to them against the drawbacks of getting a console or computer in order to decide whats best for them. I'll tell you right now that no 5 year old computer is going to kick the XBox or Gamecube's ass. You call it a 5 year old computer but maybe you have only a 1 year old video card or processor in there or maybe you added some more RAM in the past year. That doesnt make it a "5 year old computer."

Oh joy, someone who thinks 2 consoles of the same generation are worlds apart in quality. How blind you really are. And would you care to explain just what about that Gamecube makes it kick so much XBox ass? After all, isnt it the games that make a console worth buying? It seems quite clear to me that there are still at least as many reasons to get an Xbox as there are reasons for getting a gamecube. Maybe your prefer kiddie games because that is primarily what the gamecube is playing.



I knew that posting a poll that included the 3 major consoles would start a console flame war. But I dont care. This thread will be long gone in 3 days.

I should have checked this earlier, first off, before u go around calling people childish names and think ur smart by starting up a flame war in the first place please just think before u speak. OKAY ? I heard that from my friend which also has X Box and his good friend which is my best-friend then told me. Okay, leave the console war to console forums please... it's an argument based on opinion, not fact, so the debate will never be resolved. I personally prefer the GameCube becasue first-party titles (such as mario and zelda) can't be found anywhere else...and those are probably the funnest games out there. Xbox is directed more toward the late teens and early 20s, and GC is directed toward all ages...but then again, who are the main people that play console games? Please don't give me all this crap about the amount Xbox can hold on its hard drive or how many fps a GC has at a constant rate... I frankly could care less about performance, but I care about the gameplay and the fun... I've always enjoyed Nintendo games, so Microsoft has to go a long way to impress someone like me. So far, I've played Halo and it's a great game, but that's pretty much it. I've been reading up on upcoming games and they don't seem as impressive at the upcoming GC games.



Frankly, I don't know why I'm talking about this, this is a place where we're supposed to discuss Counter-Strike and stuff related to it. And please, quit insulting everyone for voicing their opinions, it gets annoying.
