In what seems to be a growing trend, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford was interviewed at Zero Tolerance. A sample:

How long do you estimate it will take a average gamer to finish the game? Of course there will be those hardcore gamers that will play all night and day.



Randy Pitchford: To complete all of the objectives with a single CT squad will take between 15 and 20 hours. There are five CT squads total and each one has different weapons and characters that can be used. There are some rewards built in for players who complete every objective with every CT squad.

They dont' take 100 hours to beat unless you attempt to get every single extra and level your players up to the max. IRL, it takes 30-50 hours to beat each final fantasy adventure.
