PunkBuster to Return?

Because I am bored, I went to the punkbuster site and discovered that they are working on something new.

We have been working hard on some very exciting new things and hopefully will be able to announce some of them soon. The PunkBuster project has been and still is a tremendous success thanks to the support of all of our users and admins. The new direction we are moving in promises to bring new levels of cheat-free play in online gaming. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

Maybe they're going to release a new "don't cheat" wallpaper, or maybe a new anti-cheat program. Only the good lord of gandi fame knows.

i like how rizzuh adds as much life into saying "punkbuster" as i do "counter-strike". I've been waiting for a decent anti-cheat option. Im afraid (and in fact its likely) that Valve will release CS:CZ as their "end all, do all" cheat solution.



No, im not picking a fight, just saying, its better that the programmers for PB are working to try something, while we just 'hear' from valve that they're "doing something about it". The best I've seen so far in OGC Hook protection is an adminmod script.



But still, its better that PB is still working, and yes, many people still use PB (as it were thought dead) as there are many people who play CS (as it is presumed on the path to dying from an overpopulation of cheaters).

In the beginning it was hitting servers like wildfire. And I don't see any of you doing anything against cheating. With all these sarcastic comments it sounds like your just mad cuz it caught you cheating. Why don't you look at the fact that it was just getting outdated. More cheats came out and more bugs were found with P/B. And the fact that more anti-cheat programs came out didn't help it. I don't think you guys need to bust on it so much because like I said before, wtf are you doing besides making sarcastic comments? But thats just my opinion.

PB chose to leave us.I was always to lazy to download it and when I finally did I saw cheater on PB servers.I really don't like PB that much.Even though I don't cheat I still found it a hassle.

Valve IS WORKING ON CHEAT SOLUTIONS, AS THEY ALWAYS HAVE. Jesus Christ you people are stupid. Remember the speed cheat? Who fixed that? Oh that's right... those silly useless valve people. Spiked models? Ohhhhhh it was VALVE that created the model-checking feature for HL.



With each HL patch, they not only fix cheats, but they add tons of new features. They do this sporadically because of the time it takes to add the new features, make changes to the SDK for mod authors, and take some time off for themselves. As a result, YOU people can continue playing HL without being bugged with patch updates all the time. Would you rather have 6 crappy HL patches a week, or a few great ones per year? Trust me, it would get bothersome after the first few patches, and people would complain, saying "WAAAAAA why don't they just FIX ALL THE CHEATS WITH ONE PATCH D:"

Its not a success now... But at the time it was.. You guys are making it sound like it accomplished nothing. If it wasn't for punkbuster the valve might not have ever started an anti cheat program.
