Sublyme and myself have worked hard for the past few days to present our CPL 2001 CS World Championship Wrapup. Miss the games? Get in the know with recaps of the important games, interviews with people who were on the floor, and a complete run-down of what exactly happened at this year's event. Here's a bit:
The Cyberathlete Professional League -- an organization in existence for 4 years and now in the practice of giving away cash prizes. Their main focus has been to establish computer gaming as a professional sport. This year's CPL gave away a total of $150,000 (US) in their Counter-Strike tournament, with the first place team taking home a smooth $50,000. Hosted down south in Dallas, Texas, clans across the world swarmed the Hyatt Regency to get a piece of the action. A total of 77 Counter-Strike clans were accounted for. Nationalities abound, English was not the only language spoken at this year's event. In a surprise for American Counter-Strike fans, however, the Europeans dominated this year's event.Check it out!!
