Coming to ESPN, Counter-Strike? Apparently so, as Angel Munoz, head of the CPL, announced in a forum post that ESPN will be covering the CPL World Championship Tournament.

We just received final confirmation from ESPN, that they will be filming at the CPL World Championship Event. This is the achievement of one of the CPL's most evasive goals.

ShackNews also reported that the CPL is in talks with the G4 Gaming Televion Network, presumably to show other events.



UPDATE: Mind Virge has announced that they will be broadcasting the CPL World Championship Tournament on the web - presumably for those without ESPN and who like slideshows.

There will be four shows during the CPL World Championships. Each show will consist of its own theme and last about one hour per day. Mind Verge is looking for candidates interested in being a part of the show.

Memo to CPL participants: This does not mean that you are professional athletes.



It's cool that some of the so-called elite players can have a forum like CPL to showcase their "skillz", but remember, ESPN is notorious for bizarre programming that has nothing to do with professional sports. If you dare to call yourselves professional athletes all kinds of cheerleaders, pool players, roid freaks...er strongest man competitors, BOWLERS, cheesy martial arts kata demonstrators, FEMALE BODY BUILDERS(w/ packages), poker players, roller derbyists, lumberjacks, pheasant hunters, curlers, shuffle boarders, fairies in leotards...er morning fitness instructors are all going to insist that they too are pro athletes. DON"T FUCKING DO IT!
