Well, the e-mail said Tiny Ray, but I think it's Tony.. Maybe it's a small person named Ray?? Err, well no, Tony Ray (the creator of PunkBuster) has been interviewed by clan DRS. If you recall, yesterday Tony Ray threw in the towel and decided not to update PB anymore. Here's an interesting one:

A patent has been applied for, and with no more updates for PunkBuster and HL, do you think cheating will become more of a factor in CS and other mods than it used to be?Of course, the past can't be a good guide to the future in CS' case. An amazingly popular, free, teamplay game? That's rubbish, any limey bastard would have told you a few years ago. Even with horrible cheating all over the place, CS has actually gotten bigger (not that that's a good thing), so we may be able to bore cheaters with our apathy. We at CSN wish Tony the best and hope he moves on to greener pastures.
As far as I know, except for this period when PB was in effect and required by all major leagues, every popular online game has declined steadily until death once the cheating starts. That's very unfortunate. I don't hate Half-Life nor CS ... I especially like Gooseman and what he did for online gaming. However, there comes a time when you have to choose real support over no support. I know I could have tried to charge users directly or made PB into shareware to try to cover the cost of the enormous time required to keep PB going, but I've always said I didn't want to do that and I meant it.
