Over at The Back Burner they've slapped up a full-featured CS Strategy. It covers everything from ho-hos to ding-dongs. Here's a bit, not of the news kind:
Cong Fue Yo!Darkslayer: I prefer to use aliases to get that extra head start in the pre-round. An alias allows you to spend less time buying weapons, and more time gaining position since all of your purchases can be completed at the press of a key. Position is everything in Counter-Strike, and if you can surprise an enemy you usually kill the enemy. Some levels are especially receptive to this tactic, for example in cs_siege, regardless whether or not you are a terrorist or counter-terrorist, position is very important. If you are a counter-terrorist, you can quickly run to the construction building on your right and snipe at passing Terrorists from there. If you are a Terrorist, the roof of the bigger building is your target. If you can run into the building and onto the roof before the Counter-Terrorists pass by, you can definitely score a couple of quick kills from that position.
Mason: I also agree with Darkslayer, but for those who do not know how to create aliases, just knowing what you are against is very helpful as well. For example, if you are a counter-terrorist and in the level cs_siege, you’re expected to get sniped right in front of the house, so, there are two things you can do. 1st is to go in the sewers with a sub-auto, such as an MP-5, and beat them close up or 2nd is to get a Steyer Aug. or a sniper rifle and see if you can get into sniping position before them. You can also use grenades and things to your advantage as well. Flash bangs blind the enemy and give you that little amount of needed time to deal some damage and explosive grenades can do at least 50 damage giving you a huge advantage if placed right. Just choose your weapons well with out wasting too much money.
Nebula: Before the round it’s a simple forumla. Buy your guns, congratulate everyone who shot you last round and then speed-cheat my way to victory! OH! Uhhh, ehem, I mean, plan … your strategies! Yes, that will do. Seriously, I usually choose what path I’m taking and see if I can convince people to knife rush with me! It takes some pretty fast talking,but I can usually guarantee a few team-mates to get with me.
