The other substitute to GameSpy -- the fantastic GameSpy Arcade -- has announced that it will officially support CS 1.0 retail! That includes tantalizing features as CS' own lobby aside from the normal Half-Life one and the ability to play CS 1.0 retail or download with no hassles whatsoever!

Also, thanks to Frightener @ Halflife.net for actually sending this into me, and informing me on the advantages of using electronic mail (or e-mail, as you veterans call it).Counter-Strike players will find that the retail version of the game has its own area in Arcade, separate from the normal Half-Life lobby. Here, CS retail users will be able to play in any of the mods that come bundled with the game, and can also join any server running either the retail or the downloadable versions of Counter-Strike.
Both the fully registered and trial versions of the Arcade software, now in version 1.0, can be downloaded from the Arcade Web site (http://www.gamespyarcade.com/download/). Wheels of Freedom and Motocross Mania users will find that the games come bundled with Arcade - so no downloads necessary! Just fire it up, get your buddies together, and get in the game!
